Cardinal Cupich: Trump's refugee ban "a dark moment in U.S. history"

Source: America Magazine

Catholic leaders in the United States are reacting with anger to President Donald J. Trump’s newly signed executive order that bars Syrian refugees from entering the country and halts resettlement programs for up to four months and are urging him to reconsider the policy.

“This weekend proved to be a dark moment in U.S. history,” Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago said in a statement on Jan. 29. “The executive order to turn away refugees and to close our nation to those, particularly Muslims, fleeing violence, oppression and persecution is contrary to both Catholic and American values.”

“We are told this is not the ‘Muslim ban’ that had been proposed during the presidential campaign, but these actions focus on Muslim-majority countries,” Cardinal Cupich said. “They make an exception for Christians and non-Muslim minorities, but not for Muslims refugees fleeing for their lives.”

“The world is watching as we abandon our commitments to American values,” he continued.

That even as a lot of people who think of themselves as good Catholics, like Paul Ryan and Steve Bannon, either do the bidding of Trump, or try to play the puppeteers to Trump, they actually think they are good Catholics, despite the fact that cardinals and yes even the Pope himself have outright condemned Trump and those who serve him.

It's going to be very funny in hell when a lot of people who thought that they were at the very least thinning their stay in purgatory find out that they were among the most harshly judged, because be offended both God and their church. Paul, Steve you are going to get some distinguished company after you die, probably stay with your brothers in spirit Adam Gehan (aka Azzam al Mamirki) and Jihad John, and all others who used religion as an excuse to gain power without responsibility.

Your real master, the one down below, it is real pleased with you, and is both of you have read Dante, you know over will award for those used Christianity to gain power very, very detailed.

"— 52 percent of Catholics voted for Trump. On a visit to Rome on Thursday, Cardinal-elect Blase J. Cupich, the archbishop of Chicago, said there was no doubt that a majority of Catholics had voted for Trump"

Yes, and it was because they've been hearing for 12 years now that a vote for a Democrat will "risk their eternal soul" due to abortion, women's health care and legal equality for LGBT people.
