The ongoing saga of the Pacifica Foundation and its stations attempts for survival has taken another turn as a lawsuit filed by the Empire State Building over unpaid tower rent by 99.5 WBAI New York has been made public.
The ESB sued Pacifica in November 2016 for the $1,357,429.71 owed in rent and late fees plus interest, costs, disbursements, and attorneys fees. -they are anti vaccine.
-they used to only mention LGBT people during a single 1-hour show each week.
-it was the same show that would talk about women's reproductive rights.
-that host was replaced. now they stick to "less controversial" topics and neither is mentioned even when there is a big story in the news.
-Catholic priests, bishops and even the arch-bishop are granted massive amounts of air time.

(37,160 posts)BAI has had ups and downs, but has been various shades of "basket case" for the last 20 years.
It's sad, because lefty voices are definitely needed; even if you don't agree with the views, it inoculates against rightward drag of the Overton Window. After hearing Samori Marxman, it's not anatomically possible to roll your eyes enough when you hear Rachel Maddox denounced as a "radical leftist."
But backbiting, internecine warfare and poor management takes its toll.
