Collins: 'Entirely Inappropriate' For Steve Bannon To Have Seat At NSC

Source: Talking Points Memo

By ESME CRIBB Published JANUARY 31, 2017, 12:28 PM EDT

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said in an interview published Tuesday that it is "entirely inappropriate" for President Donald Trump's chief strategist Steve Bannon to be a member of the National Security Council principals' committee.

"I am very surprised, disappointed and very much disagree with the president's decision to restructure that important committee," Collins said in an interview with Maine Public Radio.

She said that Bannon "does not have the expertise that the director of National Intelligence or the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff have."

"This is entirely inappropriate," Collins said.

She will give people a chance to do the right thing at first, but if they are obviously wrong she will oppose them, even if they are Republicans.

I think that her, McCain and Graham will side with Democrats on things that are the most important.

Mainers tend to be pretty independent and open to hearing all sides of an issue before they decide. That's what she does and that's what those who elect her expect her to do. That's why she's very popular in Maine. She will hear the other side out and speak up when something is really wrong.

She's very popular in Maine. She sometimes is prone to giving too much benefit of the doubt and giving people who don't deserve it a chance to do the right thing. But when push comes to shove and it really, really counts, she always steps up as a voice of reason.

Every year or so, little cheeping noises of intellectual respectability and logic come from within the fossilized shell of Republican bullshit enclosing the Senator from Maine.

Occasionally tapping noises indicate that she's about to break out, and get all "independent" on us.

And then, once the crisis passes, she glues the shell back into place, and goes back to sleep, and Democrats act all disappointed.

Wake me up if she actually does anything. I'm anticipating a nice long nap.

how the repigs are giving in and normalizing everything.??? I can see that cabal in the WH just laughing at all of us and the Congress now.

What the hell? We are trying to defend the Constitution and the repigs are shredding it.

I heard on Thom Hartman is that Fox news is saying everything is fine and calling Democrats sore losers again.

What is going on? We have begun to fight.
