Stock plunges for Vista Outdoor on slumping gun sales

Source: CNN Money

Vista Outdoor of Farmington, Utah, owns dozens of brands including AR-15 maker Savage Arms and the ammo makers CCI, Blazer, Estate Cartridge, American Eagle and Federal Premium Ammunition. The company also owns non-gun brands favored by outdoor enthusiasts, like CamelBak, and various scope companies including Bushnell.

The slumping sales with Vista Outdoor mirrors a problem that has plagued the gun industry just in the last few months since the election of President Trump.

The gun industry had been riding high for years on the fear by gun owners that President Obama was going to implement more rigorous gun control laws and Hillary Clinton would win the White House and bring in her own gun control policy.

The irony is that the Republican candidate endorsed by the National Rifle Association won the election, and then the fear was gone, and gun sales dropped.

Sales can rise or fall based on complete bullshit. This is why subjecting the commons to the whims of the market is so misplaced.

It's a movement grown out of the "film the police" movement, made stronger by police pushback.

Erosions of 4th and 5th Amendment rights has been an big issue for me for 30 years.

Some of these "auditors" are lefties like Carlos Miller and Photography is Not a Crime (I think he is/was a duer). A lot of these guys are right wingers. I can agree with them that cops need to be filmed whenever possible.

But then I started noticing bullshit like "this is Obama's America." Seriously? Wtf? As if 30 years of right wing drug war and asset forfeiture wasn't born from their hero Reagan.

Annnnnd......Like fucking clock work, a lot of these guys are revealing their pro police side now that Drumpf was elected.

Figure I'll load 45s & 38s first and I shouldn't have to load those for another couple years.

What it's really for is 9mm, we run through 5000 or more a year on family outtings so it should pay for itself in a matter of months.

Now to the gun slump, if anyone's been to a funshow this year you'll be able to report that there's no change in prices in handguns...period. Sure AR's have hit rock bottom, but the real money maker is still the handgun.

I have two pistols I want to buy this year. The new CZ p-10c and an LCP II.
