Boehner Blasts Bachmann, Says Her Unfounded Accusations Are Pretty Dangerous
By Igor Volsky on Jul 19, 2012 at 11:50 am
House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has joined a growing list of Republicans in condemning Rep. Michele Bachmanns (R-MN) unsubstantiated Islamophobic attacks against top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The flap started when Bachmann all but directly accused Clinton aide Huma Abedin of working on behalf of the Muslim Brotherhood in a letter with four colleagues to the State Departments Inspector General demanding an investigation.
I think accusations like this being thrown around are dangerous, Boehner said during a press conference on Thursday:
Q: Speaker Boehner, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann
specifically mentioned Huma Abedin, the deputy chief of staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and basically said that she had ties to the Muslim Brotherhood through her family and they also showed that the State Departments policies have become more friendly to the Muslim brotherhood and other Islamic groups. Do you have this concern do you think its appropriate that she and these members would ask for this letter, especially as a member of the House Intelligence Committee?
BOEHNER: I havent seen the letter, but I dont know Huma, but from everything I do know of her, she has a sterling character. And I think accusations like this being thrown around are pretty dangerous.

(602 posts)Of all the insane things that Michelle Bachmann has said, of all the unfounded accusations, of all the totally crazy crap that has come out of her pie-hole, why are certain select Republicans just now starting to call her out on her bullsh*t? What the hell is going on?

(53,410 posts)When some reporters asked the people why they were doing it they said Michele Backman says Huma is secretly working with the Muslim Brotherhood to make sure they're put in power. Not everyone in the world realizes we have batshit insane representatives in Congress. They were assuming she knows what the fuck she's talking about.
That's very dangerous.

(14,881 posts)I was afraid to read the articles about Hillary being pelted with tomatoes.
Even so, I'm still surprised at Boehner. I really didn't think he'd care...or actually thought he'd celebrate and try to use it as justification for the GOP brand of insanity.

(53,410 posts)Rachel Maddow talked about it yesterday. Michele Backmann has been accusing Clinton's Aide Huma of helping the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt of having "deep penetration" into the State Department.
And McCain's response here:

McCain defends Clinton aide from "sinister" Bachmann attacks
I imagine Boehner thought he best say something since he may be on the shit list. He doesn't care about us or the Democrats but he cares about his own ass.

It's possible that a censure or removal from the floor is what is making Boner take a stand? Perhaps he's trying to minimize the damage?

(53,661 posts)Now that Obama is going ahead with Bain, all the GOP stooges are being paid to jump out of their box and say the most outrageous things they can to get the public's mind off of Bain. And it's working, no more coverage of Obama's spots and the Bain revelations. As the old saying goes, there are no coincidences in politics.

(6,040 posts)...he pretty much has a lifetime job. BUT the Tea Party nut jobs have been putting the heat on him, actually doing a half hearted primary fight with one of their own; probably as a shot accross the bow.
Since he is picking on one of Sen. Jim DeMentia's groupies I expect him to retaliate for 2014 with wall-to-wall super pac money and a super ideolog candidate to match in the next primary.
I don't care for the Boehner at all but he does have the ability to piss off the area Tea Party from time to time which makes him a useful idiot.

(724 posts)Why is no one criticizing the four men who've signed the letter as well? I mean, they are being criticized but Bachmann's name keeps coming up the most. If she's the one who initiated it, then by all means she should be primarily singled out. But if all five are equally culpable, then I want to hear their names blasted throughout the news, too. Let's out all five McCarthys.

Do they honestly believe what they say, do they just assume there are enough hateful people who will happily digest and internalize these flat out lies, or do they just make things up for their own entertainment.

I truly don't understand how these batshit crazies get elected. We have quite a few in Virginia but they are mostly in the rural part of Virginia. I thought that Bachmanns district was near the Twin Cities. This is just like Joseph McCarthys "In my hand I have a list of communist sympathizers who work for the government".
