Jeff Sessions Used Political Funds for Republican Convention Expenses

The Trump administration says Attorney General Jeff Sessions was acting as a then-U.S. senator when he talked to Russias ambassador at an event during last years Republican National Convention in Cleveland, but Mr. Sessions paid for convention travel expenses out of his own political funds and he spoke about Donald Trumps campaign at the event, according to a person at the event and campaign-finance records.
Mr. Sessions made comments related to Mr. Trumps presidential campaign at a Heritage Foundation event during the Republican convention in July, when he met with Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak, according to a person at the event in Cleveland.

(199 posts)The whole purpose of the convention is to elect your party's nominee. It's one big huge campaign event. He's not writing new laws on the floor.

that he'd squirm out of this... but if
he was on the campaign payroll when
he met with Russians, well he lied again.
Sessions has no choice now but resign.

(17,390 posts)Even though he was physically and financially there for political business, he had walled of his Senator brain functions when he spoke to the Russian agent. So, when he answered Al Franken's question, he was not referring to that separate part of his mind, so he was 100% true.
