Jeff Sessions Used Political Funds for Republican Convention Expenses

Source: Wall Street Journal

The Trump administration says Attorney General Jeff Sessions was acting as a then-U.S. senator when he talked to Russia’s ambassador at an event during last year’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland, but Mr. Sessions paid for convention travel expenses out of his own political funds and he spoke about Donald Trump’s campaign at the event, according to a person at the event and campaign-finance records.

Mr. Sessions made comments related to Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign at a Heritage Foundation event during the Republican convention in July, when he met with Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak, according to a person at the event in Cleveland.

The whole purpose of the convention is to elect your party's nominee. It's one big huge campaign event. He's not writing new laws on the floor.

An hour ago I thought it pretty likely
that he'd squirm out of this... but if
he was on the campaign payroll when
he met with Russians, well he lied again.
Sessions has no choice now but resign.

Not the campaign's, or that's what it sounds like. Prob. not enough to get him off the hook, but not enough to hang him...and Trump. Unfortunately.

Even though he was physically and financially there for political business, he had walled of his Senator brain functions when he spoke to the Russian agent. So, when he answered Al Franken's question, he was not referring to that separate part of his mind, so he was 100% true.

And a person at the heritage event said Sessions left the impression he was there as a Trump campaign representative.

Nothing shady here folks. Nothing at all.
