Sessions: My Russian Contacts Have Been 'Hyped Beyond Reason'

After he announced that he would recuse himself from any probe related to the Trump campaign, Attorney Jeff Sessions appeared on Fox News Thursday evening, where he lamented the amount of attention paid to his two encounters with the Russian ambassador during the 2016 campaign.
Fox News' Tucker Carlson asked Sessions if he felt the coverage of his meetings amounted to a "witch hunt," as President Donald Trump has suggested.
I do not think what was said about that meeting I had with the Russian ambassador was legitimate, Sessions replied. "I think it was hyped beyond reason, and I think it was unfair.
Earlier in the interview, Carlson also asked Sessions why he did not amend his statement to the Senate about his encounters with Russian officials when Michael Flynn resigned as national security adviser over his failure to disclose conversations with a Russian official.

(2,108 posts)If by "hyped" you mean discussed by every major news outlet...
And if by "beyond reason" you mean beyond what you reasonably expected when you actually did lie under oath...
Well then I'd have to agree with your assessment, JBeau.
And honestly, watching you squirm? two words: magically delicious ~

(16,104 posts)that all was well regarding future US/Russian relations - and the Russian hack of Democratic operations was working out very nicely for the Republican frontrunner and then nominee - who could they possibly find handy, in America, who directly and intimately could be the go-between for this kind of messaging to Putin - the Russian ambassador?
In under a minute, a couple of "quiet, verbal niceties" could be exchanged - in a senator's office, at a political convention, in backdoor visits to private penthouses in New York.
There has to be a reason why, at every turn, each and every one of these people associated with the campaign and now the White House denies meeting with any Russians.

(10,749 posts)If you hadn't lied, then maybe you'd have a tad more credibility.
The contacts were still inappropriate. But you lied about them, which gave them more weight. That's on you.
And BTW, if suspects brought in by the FBI lie, is that now okay? Just wondering.

(10,115 posts)say the discussion was "hyped" and "what was said....was legitimate". You can't have it both ways. Either you remember the conversation or you don't.
