A majority of voters support appointing a special prosecutor to investigate alleged ties between President Donald Trumps campaign staff and the Russian government, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll conducted in the immediate wake of Attorney General Jeff Sessions recusal from any related investigations.
Fifty-six percent of registered voters support appointing a special prosecutor, a far greater share than the 30 percent who oppose an independent counsel investigating the matter. Thirteen percent of voters dont have an opinion.
Three out of four Democratic voters support a special prosecutor, compared to 39 percent of Republicans and 54 percent of independents.
The poll was conducted last Thursday through Monday and went into the field just hours after Sessions announced he wouldnt take part in any investigation into the Trump campaign. At a press conference at the Justice Department last Thursday, Sessions admitted meeting twice last year with Russias ambassador to the United States. Because those meetings occurred as part of his duties as a then-senator from Alabama, according to Sessions, he didnt mislead his colleagues when he said he had no interactions with Russian government officials while serving as a Trump campaign surrogate.

(9,313 posts)... strikes me as pretty good news.
If "no opinion" captures people who aren't paying any attention at all, that's about what I would expect at the best of times. (I think more like 20% of the electorate fall into the "don't pay attention to 'politics'" category.)
This poll indicates to me that there are about 30% hard core DT people (30% no prosecutor, 29% would be happy with ACA repeal, and 22% would be happy if DT got his border wall built). That number could possibly go lower, but I think it's pretty close to the "floor." FOX News and RW talk radio have brain washed an awful lot of people over the years. My sense is that a majority of the 30% are beyond reach.
It's depressing that there are so many brainwashed Americans, but it could be worse.

They are still willing to watch the world go to shit for a tax cut.

(27,826 posts)but those making less than 75K a year will only get about a 1 percent tax cut, while millionaires & billionaires will likely get a much larger tax cut (25-40 percent)
(I don't have the link to Asshole's tax reform plan, but it can be Googled)
