Ryan Insists Phase Three Of Repeal Plan Would Get Democratic Votes

House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday evening insisted that the GOP's three part plan to repeal and replace Obamacare is viable despite doubts from some Republican senators.
During an interview with Fox News' Martha MacCallum, Ryan noted that Republicans cannot include every provision they want in this initial bill to repeal and replace Obamacare because they must use the reconciliation process. That process only requires 51 votes in the Senate, so it could pass with only Republican support. Ryan said that Republicans have a "three part process" because of that restriction. The second phase would be regulations from the executive branch, and the third phase is additional legislation that would need Democratic votes in the Senate to pass.
MacCallum noted that there are concerns that a second bill would not get Democratic votes, as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) have warned this week.
However, Ryan dismissed those doubts and argued that Democrats would support provisions like allowing trade or professional associations to offer health insurance plans to members. "I look forward to seeing Democrats try and kill that idea," he said.

Ryan Dismisses Breitbart Tape As 'Ancient History'
By CAITLIN MACNEAL Published MARCH 15, 2017, 8:56 AM EDT
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) on Tuesday evening brushed off a tape leaked by Breitbart News revealing him discussing in October how he would not defend President Donald Trump.
This is ancient history," Ryan told Fox News' Martha MacCallum on Tuesday. Its no secret Donald and I had our ups and downs the President and I had our ups and downs during the campaign. But we merged forces at the end of the campaign.
Ryan said he is "surprised it's even a story."
The leaked call took place just after Trump's vulgar comments on the "Access Hollywood" tape were revealed, according to Breitbart News.

(24,720 posts)you go around a spout off that you want "private competition", well, here you go, F yourself
This country tried that and there was over 50 million human beings without health care. If you want " private competition" lets have it with universal coverage called Medicare.
Lets compete that wonderful program against any of your lame insurance programs, lets try it for ten years just like your plan, your trying to force down everyone throats, (where by you take Medicare / Medicaid and and give it to the states to be "BLOCK GRANTED" which in turn are under funded because they are forced to balance there respective budgets) and see which one wins.
Since you go around a spout off that you and your ilk want market forces to decide, so lets have a competition with Medicare against any all of your "programs, your double speak is amazing there EDDIE MUNSTER, either put up or shut up. You really are a has been, and should be treated as a has been, in fact your entire republican fascists party are has been's.

(12,679 posts)So of course, Democrats would like it...he thinks.
Or perhaps Phase 3 is a Kevorkian plan - the government will cover both Assisted Suicide and your Life Insurance suicide penalty if your medical bills reach the cut-off and there's no way you can ever pay those bills in your lifetime. As a kindness to your beneficiaries, of course.
The only thing that would be acceptable at this point is Single Payer - and if that's what he was planning in the first place, why do we have to go through the torture of phase 1 and phase 2 to get there?
But Single Payer's just a pipe dream, because the GOP's masters will never tolerate either paying more taxes, or letting the poor and working middle class have just a crumb of assistance.
