Multiple Republican congressmen have now said that there is no evidence to support President Donald Trumps claim that former President Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower and now one of them is calling on Trump to apologize.
While talking with reporters on Friday, Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) reiterated that hes seen no indication that Obama ordered any sort of wiretap, and he chided the president for being so careless in making serious accusations without any proof to back them up.
Its not a charge I would have ever made, said Cole. Frankly, unless you can produce some pretty compelling proof, then I think the president, you know, President Obama is owed an apology in that regard. If he didnt do it, we shouldnt be reckless in accusations that he did.
President Trumps insistence that Obama wiretapped him has increasingly put him at odds with key GOP lawmakers including House Speaker Paul Ryan, who definitively said this week that no such wiretap occurred during or after the campaign.

GOP Rep.: Without Evidence, Trump Owes Obama Apology For Wiretapping Charge
By MATT SHUHAM Published MARCH 17, 2017, 11:34 AM EDT
A Republican congressman said Friday that, without "pretty compelling proof," President Donald Trump should apologize to former President Barack Obama for Trumps unsubstantiated claim that Obama ordered surveillance on him during the 2016 campaign.
I see no indication that thats true, Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) told CNN's Manu Raju of Trumps charge. And so its not a charge I would have ever made.
Frankly, unless you can produce some pretty compelling proof, then I think the President, you know, President Obama is owed an apology in that regard. If he didn't do it, we shouldn't be reckless in accusations that he did, Cole told reporters.
Trump has offered no evidence for his claim, though he referenced news reports that used the word wiretap," a term he used, in an interview Wednesday.

(6,933 posts)You know that ego maniac would NEVER apologize to anyone, much less some black guy. So instead of doing that he'll keep mouthing off about how Obama did it (oh,now wire tapping covers MANY things) and keep it ratcheted up.
GO FOR IT Trump!!!!!!!!!!!!

(16,940 posts)a REPUBLICAN from OKLAHOMA suggesting OrangeClown extend an apology to President Obama, could we soon have:
*a million dollar sweepstakes van pulling up in our driveway?
*Paul Ryan demanding a "single-payer" medical bill?
*Oil companies dropping prices 25% because "they've been making too much money?"
*Pete Rose declaring that he does not want to be in the BB Hall of Fame because he gambled?
*ENRON "Golden Parachute" people divesting their portfolios/accounts and refunding money to all that lost in the collapse?
*"Brownie" admitting that he didn't really do "a heck of a job."
Me? I'm watching for another "star in the east" so that we can begin to understand the new budget....................
