Man who triggered seizure in Newsweek's Kurt Eichenwald on Twitter arrested by FBI
Source: RawStory
Just three months ago, Newsweek reporter Kurt Eichenwald temporarily quit Twitter after a supporter of President Donald Trump sent him a flashing image that triggered an epileptic seizure. Friday, Eichenwald tweeted that the man who sent the strobing image has been arrested by the FBI.
According to Eichenwald, the man faces federal charges and will be indicted by the Dallas District Attorney on other charges in the coming days. After the news came out that someone did this and harmed Eichenwald, online copycats sent him similar graphics.
He tweeted that the information of those 40 people who did the same are also in the hands of the FBI. He encouraged people to stop sending them, since theyre probably going to get a visit from the police as well.

Eichenwald has worked to outline the financial conflicts of interest facing Trump and the Trump Organization during the 2016 campaign and since being elected.

(32,777 posts)for sending FLASHING tweets, even to those who aren't affected.
Twitter should make it *impossible* to send a flashing tweet to anyone.
Just a few lines of code is all it would take to stop this.

(5,815 posts)With epilepsy. I also helped educate the public about epilepsy, the known causes and assisting someone experiencing a seizure. The idea that someone would deliberately send something designed to provoke a seizure is despicable. If you've ever witnessed a seizure, you know what I am talking about. It can be life threatening in some cases, so this horrible man deserved to be arrested and should face charges for trying to harm Eichenwald.

(804 posts)I thank you for the work you did, Grammy23. It's bad enough that movies and tv shows don't seem to understand or care that flashing lights, etc. can trigger seizures (I'm looking at you, Stranger Things, episode 8), but people should not have to worry about Twitter of all things!
