Obama Oakland visit draws protests

Source: SF Chronicle

Oakland may be a proven bastion of support for President Obama, but his planned visit to the politically charged city Monday is expected to lead to the first major downtown protests in months.

Medical marijuana advocates are staging what will likely be the biggest rally as they urge Obama to halt a Justice Department crackdown on dispensaries. Antiwar activists are coming, too, lending energy to the barrage of criticism that Obama has been taking from the activist left.

If the president wanted this kind of attention, he picked the right destination.

Among East Bay stops on Monday, Obama is set to appear at a fundraiser that starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Fox Theater, which sits on the edge of Oaksterdam, Oakland's unofficial cannabis district, on a block where Occupy activists have clashed with police.

I don't think it will be until the second term, if that happens. But he will eventually imo. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

My VA Doc perscribes one but suggests the other would be better.

That's a problem when you wake up 3 hours before the alarm and then start stressing out over unemployment running out, no prospects and not able to pay the rent. Can't take another Ambien.

That's where a little hit works wonders.

Guns and ammo, legal.

Marijuana a schedule 1 drug? And they wonder why we have no respect for the sellouts like our Prez.

CHANGE!!!

People on the left can be so addicted to hearing their own voices, that they screw themselves over and over. I bet Romney is going to be HUGE fan of medical marijuana. You know.. the way that George W Bush was EXACTLY the same as Al Gore.

Obama has done a lot of good things, but lets pull the blinders off for a moment and call it like it is. Government is less transparent, more drone strikes, expansion of assassinations, Guantanamo is still open for business, Bush tax cuts are still in place, Healthcare reform was basically what the Repukes offered Clinton, closed more dispensaries than Bush. If protests drag him further to the left then that's a good thing in my book.

I found two websites that say they report the price of marijuana in the US, but I am not sure if the prices are correct.

(1) http://www.priceofweed.com/
(2) http://www.narcoticnews.com/Marijuana-Prices-in-the-U.S.A.php

Which one best represents the price of weed in the US?

should be legalized, but I can't, for the life of me, figure out why people like to get high. It's a very disconnected, weird, and unpleasant experience for me. In the past, I've had morphine a few times for pain, tried a couple of joints (ugh), and drank some booze. I've settled on a drink, sometimes 2, once in a while to be sociable. I don't enjoy feeling "high" or "spaced out."

Legalize it all.
