London attack: Police name Westminster attacker

Source: BBC News

The man believed to be responsible for the attack in Westminster has been named as Khalid Masood, by the Metropolitan Police.

Masood, who died in the attack, was not the subject of any current police investigations, but he had a range of previous convictions for assaults.

The 52-year-old was born in Kent but was believed to have been living in the West Midlands.

<snip>

Police said there had been no prior intelligence about Masood's intention to carry out an attack.

but we can't stop crackpots from being crackpots!

But a lot of people are alive today because this faux terrorist couldn't buy a gun and shoot over a hundred innocent bystanders!

At least that works!

go right ahead. Our governments often do. ISIS does.

I say he's a fucking crackpot who went on a murderous rampage.

Whatever you call him is no solace to the victims.

But they will focus on the Islamic aspect, and of course punish innocent immigrants in response to what a British person did.

Trump will still allow travel from the UK and everywhere else he has business interests.

Because, if the pattern holds, some of these immigrants will become parents to the next generation of home-grown terrorists.

Muslim immigrants are not adapting in Europe the way they do here. Belgium, France, Germany, England...these countries have problems that we don't really have - or have very little of.

Born Adrian Elms in Dartford, Kent, he was reportedly brought up in Rye, East Sussex by a single parent.

He is understood to have been jailed on at least two occasions, with reports on Thursday night suggesting he may have been radicalised behind bars.
...
It is believed he regularly attended a mosque in Birmingham and was a Muslim convert. Security sources, however, refused to discuss details or the role the mosque may or may not have played in his radicalisation.

He may be a convert, but his acts of terror are certainly a reminder of what is going on in Europe.

London: The Westminster attacker has been identified as 52-year old Khalid Masood - a British-born man with a criminal record who had "some years ago" been investigated by Britain's spy agency MI5 for violent extremism.

Masood's identity was made known just over 24-hours after he drove a hired Hyundai into a crowd of pedestrians crossing Westminister Bridge, before crashing the vehicle into the gates outside Parliament House, where he stabbed to death the police officer Keith Palmer. He was then shot dead by police.

snip

The Metropolitan police said Masood had recently been living in the West Midlands and was known by numerous aliases.

petty criminals of Muslim descent or conversion, seeking some sort of revenge, infamy and redemption through a suicidal rampage. not even particularly religious, just aggrieved.

there's not a lot of ways to stop an attack like this. car rental + a knife + no intention of escaping.

You have not added anything at all to the discussion with that (apart from, perhaps, your liking for Bill Maher). What were the points? What "reality" are you saying someone is not dealing with?
