President Plays Up 'Unmasking' Report, Criticizes Russia Coverage
Source: MSN/WSJ
President Donald Trump on Saturday pressed his unsubstantiated claims that his presidential campaign was improperly spied on, referencing a media report about the names of Trump campaign officials being unmasked in intelligence reports.
Wow, @FoxNews just reporting big news, Mr. Trump tweeted, paraphrasing lines from the story, which was published on Friday.
Source: Official behind unmasking is high up. Known Intel official is responsible. Some unmasked.... not associated with Russia. Trump team spied on before he was nominated. If this is true, does not get much bigger. Would be sad for U.S.
Unmasking refers to the process of un-redacting the name of a U.S. person in classified reports. Only a small number of senior officials have the authority to reveal the identities of U.S. persons caught up in surveillance. Unmasking a name without a valid reason or authorization would violate rules designed to protect the privacy of people incidentally caught up in authorized surveillance.

Trump continues to double down on the wiretapping lie even though his scheme with Nunes was exposed.

(13,903 posts)when you have proof that the unmasking was done improperly.
When you know who did it, and that violated the rules, fire them.
Turn the case over to DOJ to see if they broke the law.
give them their due process and if found guilty punish them under our laws.
but since this has nothing to do with Russia, why is that stopping the investigations into Trump his lackeys and Russia?
maybe the FBI should be investigating Nunes, his NSC "deep throats", and Trump for obstruction.......

(6,361 posts)Initially, the claim was BHO tapped my phones in trump tower.
Now that this has been exposed in several directions as total bullchit, we have a new claim.
BHO (and his crowd) abused their power to unmask US citizens that "inadvertently" got caught up in valid FISA investigations.
Common game with folks like him...keep the target moving but close enough that it just seems to be the same never ending story.
He's such an asshat.

(5,269 posts)He said more than once that although masked, their identities were evident. His ridiculously flimsy complaint seemed to be that info should not have been gathered or disseminated because potential leakers could unmask the names.
This whole charade is ridiculous irrelevant grasping at straws, since he said the intelligence was gathered legally, names had been masked and Americans were not target of surveillance and Russia was not involved.
