Cannibalism Study Finds People Are Not That Nutritious
While our ancient ancestors did practice cannibalism, eating other humans just couldnt compare with taking down a mammoth.

Note to the prehistoric party planner: One dead mammoth can feed 25 hungry Neanderthals for a month, but cannibalizing a human would provide the crowd with only a third of a days calories.
Essentially, youre a walking lunch.
A new look at the nutritional value of human flesh shows that, compared with other Paleolithic prey animals, humans werent especially packed with calories for their size.
When you compare us to other animals, were not very nutritional at all, says study author James Cole of the University of Brighton, who published his work Thursday in Scientific Reports.*

(17,931 posts)they've been preying on Homo sapiens for a very long time. If you want a quick bite, just snatch one of those weird, bipedal apes. No horns, no tusks, no claws, no fangs. A few rocks and a stick or two and it's lunch time.

While I was never very good at the old video game Age of Empires I did learn that before your clan attacked an elephant you need at least seven or eight people. Then you might lose one or two, but if you attacked with four or five people, you'd be lucky if one survived to run away and the elephant usually did survive.

(34,136 posts)I think my guys made it up to early Bronze Age a few times. I carried the CD through several Windows generations, starting over from scratch each time.
Once I got a computer with good enough graphics and a decent scanner, I have spent much more time scanning photos and family documents than playing intricate games. These days by the time I am ready for a game, it's something simple like Solitaire.
In fact, I spent most of today sorting out all the files I downloaded from my Dad's computer and the stuff I have scanned since he passed away. I'm not allowed to bring home files such as his Navy Service Records (or Mom's) but now I have the scans and can fit those into the sequence of the letters he wrote home during World War II.
Tomorrow I have to set up a 4TB external drive to backup photos and documents so I have room on the internal drive to scan more stuff.
