Venezuelans pour into Caracas streets in anti-Maduro protest

Source: YahooNews

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuela's government fired tear gas and rubber bullets at some of the thousands of opponents of President Nicolas Maduro who poured into the streets of Caracas amid a weeklong protest movement that shows little sign of losing steam.

The demonstrations in the capital and several other cities came a day after Maduro's government barred top opposition leader Henrique Capriles from running for office for 15 years.

The ban capped a tumultuous 10 day-crackdown that saw pro-government groups rough up several opposition leaders and another seek refuge in a foreign embassy to escape arrest. The protests were triggered by the Supreme Court's decision to gut the opposition-controlled legislature of its last vestiges of power, a move that was later reversed amid widespread international condemnation and even dissent within Maduro's normally disciplined socialist leadership.

"Nobody can disqualify the Venezuelan people," an emotional Capriles said from a stage Saturday as he called on protesters to march to the Ombudsman's office downtown.

Hopefully the people will now start the process of freeing their country from the lunatic in charge. Sadly, it will probably get nastier than it already is before that can be accomplished.
Probably one of the biggest failures in recent history.

I'm afraid there will be blood shed. It's going to get nastier, for sure. The ashes of the 'Bolivarian revolution'.

As a poster since 2001, that's my perspective.

There are still some posters here with positive sentiment toward the Venezuelan government- not like before. There are various reasons for that.

....if he confiscates foreign factories and companies, fires the people who know what they are doing at oil companies and installs loyalists, makes it hard to get US currency so US companies can't money to buy goods, sets unreasonably low/under costs price controls on goods during super high inflation and arrests political opponents on trumped up charges...

Then yes, we will be just like Venezuela.

As of 2012, Venezuela was the 5th happiest country on Earth. Surely it could not change much in 5 years!

Last Friday, the Washington Post highlighted a global happiness survey released last year by the polling firm Gallup, which found that Venezuela is the fifth happiest country in the world. According to the poll, 64 percent of Venezuelan respondents said their well-being was thriving.

All this talk of demonstrations, food shortages, etc. is simply CIA disruption. Remember Chile 1973?

Venezuela’s Maduro Denounces “Traitors” in Ranks of Revolution

https://venezuelanalysis.com/news/12987

By Lucas Koerner

Caracas, March 21, 2017 (venezuelanalysis.com) – Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro warned Saturday of the rise of “right-wing reformist tendencies” whom he accused of attempting to sabotage the country’s revolutionary process.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the Bolivarian Workers’ University at Miraflores palace, the head of state condemned the “new traitors who want to stab Nicolas Maduro in the back in order take up a reformist project to surrender the Bolivarian Revolution to international capitalism”.

Maduro vowed to “unmask” the alleged rogue elements within the revolutionary movement, whom he claimed, “have marketing advisors and lots of money behind them.”

The comments follow similar remarks early last week, in which the Venezuelan leader pledged to reveal a list of “traitors” within the United Socialist Party of Venezuela who he alleged were “being paid by the United States” to undermine the party internally.

I KNEW it had to be traitors and foreign capitalist disruptors sabotaging the happiness and prosperity of the great Bolivarian Revolution.
