Tillerson asks European diplomats why US taxpayers should care about Ukraine

Source: The Hill

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson asked European diplomats during a Tuesday meeting why American taxpayers should care about Ukraine, according to a Bloomberg Politics report.

“Why should U.S. taxpayers be interested in Ukraine?” Tillerson asked the foreign ministers, known as the “Group of Seven," during what Bloomberg said was an offhand remark at meetings in Lucca, Italy.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault reportedly responded that U.S. taxpayers want their allies in the European Union to succeed and be “strong politically, strong from a security point of view, and strong economically.”

Tillerson’s comments about Ukraine come at a time when Trump administration has been under fire for his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Western European countries fear a growing Kremlin presence, especially with any actions that suggest it is trying to gain control over former Soviet bloc states.

Tax payers are rubes and should be minding their own business. The hubris of some of our citizens is astounding! They need to worry more about rapists and murderers flooding across our border or getting a job and off The Welfare! Damn rubes.

Who think they pay so much and get less out of it than others. That the president is a tax cheat just adds more irony, yes.
But it's notable this is still the base they are playing to with all these racist and antisemetic crap being spewed daily.

Ukraine (Listeni/juːˈkreɪn/; Ukrainian: Україна, tr. Ukraina [ukrɑˈjinɑ]) is a sovereign state in Eastern Europe,[8] bordered by Russia to the east and northeast, Belarus to the northwest, Poland and Slovakia to the west, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova to the southwest, and the Black Sea and Sea of Azov to the south and southeast, respectively. Ukraine is currently in territorial dispute with Russia over the Crimean Peninsula which Russia annexed in 2014[9] but which Ukraine and most of the international community recognise as Ukrainian. Including Crimea, Ukraine has an area of 603,628 km2 (233,062 sq mi),[10] making it the largest country entirely within Europe and the 46th largest country in the world. It has a population of about 42.5 million, making it the 32nd most populous country in the world. . .

Ukraine has long been a global breadbasket because of its extensive, fertile farmlands and is one of the world's largest grain exporters.[17][18] The diversified economy of Ukraine includes a large heavy industry sector, particularly in aerospace and industrial equipment.'>>>

when all the nations participated in disarming Ukraine as a nuclear power.

Our government and our international credibility will not survive if every two to four years we dismiss and throw out every agreement and law and treaty and regulation we passed in the prior administration or Congress.

Tillerson is a corporate tool. And obviously, incredibly ignorant and unprepared.

Wouldn't you like to hear what the deep State Department is advising him? Now we know why "No eye contact" policy.

Maybe what Tillerson was really saying, was "why should American tax payers care about Europe?"

His boss's tirades against NATO, are a matter of record, and there are many American conservatives who don't like the idea of the US, being a member of NATO!

Those "huddled masses" out there don't have to come in peace. The Neo-cons fear this. Sounds like they are coming back in power.

Treaties need to be ratified by the senate, no treaty with Ukraine was ever signed. Agreements signed by presidents alone are not binding.

Its embarrassing to me to even talk to them these days. I try and answer as best I can..... but its embarrassing to say the least.
