Turkey probes senator, ex-CIA director over links to cleric

Source: AP

ISTANBUL (AP) — Turkey's state-run news agency says the Istanbul chief prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into 17 U.S.-based individuals, including Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara and ex-CIA director John Brennan, for their alleged links to cleric Fethullah Gulen.

Anadolu Agency says Saturday the probe was launched after a group of Turkish lawyers filed a criminal complaint.

It said the prosecutor's office would investigate their links to Gulen's movement, in a step that could lead to charges of attempting to overthrow the Turkish government and membership in a terror organization.

Turkey accuses Gulen, who is based in Pennsylvania, of orchestrating last summer's failed coup and has designated his movement as a terror organization. Gulen denies involvement.

The benefits to them, and notably anyone associated with Mike Flynn and his suspected plotting to kidnap that cleric. But to also Rudy Giuliani, Rump's own economic interests at real risk of Erdogan's ire in Turkey, the Rump administration's relationship with Erdogan, and the interests and legal safety of other trumpster players are obvious.

I can't think of anything that connects them. Other than several may want Trump investigated.

Trump has business interests in Turkey (he gets $ for licensing his name to Trump Towers Istanbul) and Erdogan arrested people connected to the owners, so I understand that move...but why the harassment of Schumer et al?

They don't want to be discovered as the people that put the current dumbass in office. They probably put W in office too. An earlier version put Reagan in office.

If one thinks about it, none of those three were smart enough to do it alone, they had to have had help. Hate to be paranoid, but those three assholes don't have the combined brainpower to work the counter at McDonalds.

Turkey is voting to eliminate the Prime Minister.
And give more power the Erdogan.
If the referendum passes Turkey will no longer have a parliamentary government.

Erdogan is trying to look like a strong man.

he quickly sold his soul to pootie right after that little dust up over Turkey shooting down a Russian fighter jet over a disputed border. Now he's trying to blame his fake coup on some poor cleric in PA. And now that another Russian tool is in office over here, that poor cleric will be sacrificed, just watch how quickly that happens.
