Trump: Mexico Will Pay 'At A Later Date' And 'In Some Form' For My Border Wall

President Donald Trump on Sunday took a vague tack to explaining how exactly he plans to get Mexico to pay for his proposed wall along the United States southern border.
On the campaign trail, Trump often pledged to crowds at his rallies that he would build a great great wall and have Mexico pay for that wall.
On Sunday, however, Trump tweeted that Mexico would pay eventually, at a later date and in some form for his proposed wall. He did not specify a specific date or schedule for that payment, and did not say what kind of remuneration it would entail.

In March, the White House requested more than $1 billion from Congress to begin construction.

(19,204 posts)Let's face it, Trump's supporters are a cult. They've been brainwashed into thinking Trump, and ONLY Trump, can save the country, save the world. They don't have rational thought processes. They have no balance. If Trump says it, it's true. Anything else is "fake news". They've built a religion around the world's biggest con-man and his family of grifters, and they'd drink the Kool-Aid in a nanosecond if he told them to.

(1,105 posts)Cause this guy does nothing but speak the truth. If he says they'll pay, then by golly you can take that to the bank.
Besides that, the wall is all the more important now, we're going to need it to keep the skilled farm workers from leaving and going back to Mexico.

(5,613 posts)In late January, however, the Gropenfuhrer was apparently "considering" a 20% import tax on Mexican goods. After walking that back, Spicer reported that there were "several ways..to generate the reviews" (whatever the hell that means), and Priebus also told reporters the White House is considering a "buffet of options" as it considers how to pay for the border wall.
So now instead of a buffet of options, all they have is a proposal that Mexico will pay "in some form".
Unfortunately, this BS has become typical.

(50,560 posts)Whether it's the complexity of doing this, because the money-wiring companies all told him to go fuck himself or someone in the Trump Bund finally realized how bad stealing private citizens' money would look, but one of Trump's initial ideas was to confiscate remittances - the money people send out of the country usually to Mexico and points south.
I wonder what the logistics of a money-running operation would look like.

(50,560 posts)When the Inner German Border and, later, the Berlin Wall were constructed, the East German government told its citizens these fortifications were being constructed to keep the impoverished West Germans from escaping into the German Democratic Republic and taking all their wealth. It didn't work out quite that way; the real reason they were building these things was to keep the impoverished East Germans from escaping into West Germany to buy bananas and toilet paper without metal shavings in it.
As a Berlin veteran I am not amused that Trump wants to build a wall in the first place, and I'm totally pissed at how he's trying to sell it.

(30,745 posts)that featured our tea party congressman, Adam Kitzinger. I asked the first question. It was about corn exports.
I live in a rural district. Kitzinger said we could not do anything about what Mexico decided to do. He was totally dismissive of this and did not know what he was talking about. I live in a rural district with many corn producers. Kitzinger has no understanding of how commodities markets function.
Mexico buys 27% of our corn. If all that corn is thrown onto the market, many farmers in his district could be ruined. Kitzinger is a fool who needs to be thrown out of office.
He also knew nothing about net neutrality, could not recall how he voted on educational issues (mostly wrong) and had some really stupid answers about the ACA.
Our first step needs to be to get rid of congressmen like Kitzinger.

They're going to pay me back for it sometime in the future, don't know when, I'm sure of it, so I'll get reimbursed for it so I can cover all your needs when they pay up, which I'm sure they'll do. Oh no, you're not getting the money back, that's so I can provide this house for you and make my weekly flights to play golf. Oh, and I'm cancelling your car insurance, and you're gonna need to move into the basement."

Ever seen the move, "The Day After Tomorrow"? Climate change comes much faster than expected, and wipes out most of the U.S. with sub-zero temperatures, flooding, tornado's, etc. The climate change deniers ignored the scientists. The survivors head south to Mexico, where things are still fairly normal. Mexico welcomes us with open arms in our time of tragedy and need.
Now where we gonna go?
