2 Democratic candidates for N.J. governor just got more public financing

TRENTON -- Two Democrats hoping to replace Gov. Chris Christie have received approval to receive additional public matching funds to finance their campaigns.

On Friday, the state's Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) announced that it had approved $143,749 in public matching funds for the primary campaigns of former U.S. Treasury undersecretary Jim Johnson, and Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D-Middlesex).

ELEC approved $86,620 in public funds for Johnson, bring his cumulative total to $1,280,696 in matching funds.

The commission also has approved $57,129 in public funds for Wisniewski, who's received $751,487 to date.
