GOP Rep. Unaware O'Care Repeal Bill Nixes Health Care Program In His State
Source: Talking Points Memo

After admitting to CNN that he did not read the House bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY) told the Buffalo News that he was unaware the bill would nix funding for a health care program in New York.
When a reporter for the Buffalo News told Collins that the American Health Care Act would eliminate funding for an optional program adopted only by New York and Minnesota called the Essential Plan, Collins replied, Explain that to me.
Asked again if he was aware of that funding cut, Collins told the Buffalo News, No. But it doesnt surprise me for you to tell me that there were two states in the nation that were taking advantage of some other waiver program and New York was one of the two states.
The AHCA would nix the Essential Plan option, which provides New York with $3 billion annually for a program that offers benefits for low-income residents who do not qualify for Medicaid.

(410 posts)How about Realist Dems.
This lib/con crap is part of the problem dividing the country.
I'm in favor of:
....conservative budget, there is pork on both side of the isle.
....balanced budget, yes I can't buy something I can't pay for.
....feed hungry children at school, you bet.
....basic 3 year, associate degree at no cost, above that has a cost, this is the 2100 century, right.
....sick go to the doctor and no bill, want bigger boobies, well there's a cost for that.
....feed and house the hungry, sure and we can start with all the oxygen thieves in DC.
....term limits NO MORE McTurtles.
....no lobbyist writing legistation, we sent YOU TO WORK FOR US.
....no BIG money, corporations are made up of people but they are NOT "people".
....make up shiat, disparage others, when your are a "leader", YOUR FIRED, 1 less congress-critter until next elections will work.
....start kicking those poisoning our food in the nuts, that's why we are sick [bottom of barrel for top 30 nations].
....religious freedom, you have it and never lost it, your free to go to a different church, change TV channels, do not marry same sex, and keep your church out of my government and will guarantee to keep the government IRS out of your church [ NOTE: only applies directly to "the church" not business and commercial properties and ventures they invest in--that is taxable]
....feel free to continue.
And one more time for those that missed it.
You can not control a population that is:
...healthy -- ask Napoleon how that winter attack worked out
...well fed -- applies to healthy
...well funded -- can't by bullets when you are buying medical
...well educated -- we will call your bluff
Remove any one of the above and you control that population.

(23,155 posts)He thought healthcare is so unimportant, he didn't even bother to read the bill he voted for. He just flat didn't give a fuck, as I suspect is true for most of them. They didn't even wait for CBO scoring, because they were afraid of the truth, as always. They prefer their partisan lies, every time. They are willing to let people die just so drumpf and other 1%ers, like themselves, get more $ in their pockets. Drumpf never even once addressed the huge dichotomy between what the promised and the pittance and kick in the head he actually gave to his low income voters.
I just hope this takes effect in time that people feel the pinch in the mid-terms and vote these heinous killers out of office.

I said this farther up-thread and it's well worth repeating. If our Dems DO NOT use all of this in the upcoming campaigns - THEY'RE the fools, and they don't deserve the trust of the voters.
This is a golden opportunity that presents itself with some of the most powerful and compelling talking points imaginable:
THEY just took your health care away.
THEY just took your protection away.*
THEY just threw YOU to the wolves.
(Wanna keep on voting for them?)
And according to word-masters like George Lakoff, you should NEVER EVER call it "Obamacare," because that's what the bad guys call it, in an effort to cast it - AND him - in a negative light. You reinforce that whenever you use the word "Obamacare." Now, calling it "trumpcare" on the other hand, works exactly the same way but it's helpful to our side.
AND you never talk about restrictions or regulations - the proper word to use is PROTECTIONS.
*WORDS MATTER, guys! Our team still doesn't quite get that, but I hope that's changing.

I've been thinking about that for quite a while. Don't use their framework. It's the "affordable care act". or was. we shall see.

Just this week, they've been trying to restrict abortion access to poor women and allow farmers to pollute our beloved lakes and streams to the point you can't eat the fish out of them.

This according to Rep Reed(D-NY) a week or so ago on Chris Hayes. Reed said something to the effect that by
Ny & Ca requiring abortion coverage in policies, those states' citizens could not be not be covered by this Republican/ Trump health bill, which categorically denies coverage for abortion.
So, even tho it specifically blows up all federal support for New Yorkers & Californians , these NY (including Reed) and Ca Repug Reps voted for it anyway pretty much in lockstep. Even like Issa and Rohrbacker who are in blue turning districts.
Go figure the level of stupidity beyond the sheer cruelty of these monsters.

Collins comments on the Essential Plan came after he admitted to CNN that he had not read the bill.
I will fully admit, Wolf, I did not but I can also assure you my staff did, Collins told CNNs Wolf Blitzer when asked if he read the full bill. We have to rely on our staff.

(10,133 posts)But all too believable. I saw his interview(here on DU) yesterday with CNN during which he admits that he had not read the bill, but " that is what staff is for." Well sounds like his staff is as inept as he is.
You'd think that he'd at least see if anything in this bill hurt his own backyard. I mean, my direction to staff would be comb to through this bill and tell me what happens to NY programs. Even if I planned to vote for this turd anyhow, I'd want to know. Not Chris Collins. He is not just willfully ignorant. He's truly ignorant. Again, I'm shocked. But shouldn't be.
