Romney campaign blasts ‘eccentric, odd’ Mayor Boris Johnson of London
Source: DailyMail
A Romney campaign official has blasted Boris Johnson, the London Mayor, as an eccentric, odd fellow whose public attack on the Republican candidate was unbecoming and an indication of his bias towards President Barack Obama.
The official said that Prime Minister David Camerons wisecrack about it being harder to stage an Olympic Games in London than in the middle of nowhere an apparent reference to Salt Lake City, where Romney oversaw the 2002 Winter Olympics was probably appropriate, albeit awkward and unfortunate for Romney
Johnson on the other hand lived up to his reputation as an eccentric, odd fellow. It was unbecoming to attack Governor Romney in that way. There really was no need. But Johnson made it clear in 2008 that his vote would have gone to Obama.
¬snip¬
The campaign official, who was not directly involved organising the London trip, that that the Romney campaign had not prepared sufficiently for a visit of this magnitude and that the candidate had not been briefed properly on how to answer questions about the staging of the Olympics
¬snip¬
`Unfortunately, it shows that the campaign by solely focussing on jobs has really neglected foreign policy and international affairs.

Yet wouldn't knowing how to politely interact with people give you the answer. Here, he could even have praised himself (his favorite thing) while answering non controversially. Something like, "I really am looking forward to seeing what parts of these Olympics I can given my busy schedule - I know how much work is needed to organize an event like this - as I did organizing the SLC Olympics. It took enormous effort and competence, which I assume the Britons leading this effort will have."
I doubt Michelle needed pre- prepared comments for any question she would get.

Johnson is politically to the right of Thatcher, which really demonstrates how far to the right the Republicans have drifted in the last few years if they believe that Johnson favours Obama ahead of a Republican candidate.

And this:
"the Romney campaign had not prepared sufficiently for a visit of this magnitude and that the candidate had not been briefed properly on how to answer questions about the staging of the Olympics"
How much preparation does it really take to know that when you are a guest someplace you lavish praise, not insults? Seriously? He needed to be briefed and prepared to be civil and polite?
This was as easy an overseas visit as he was *ever* going to get.
He can't handle a fucking meet and greet as an invited guest at a big public party hosted by our closest ally without insulting them repeatedly on day one...and his campaign official blames the insulted party for brushing off his insults with a joke. Unreal...

(793 posts)who deserve a lot of scrutiny. I saw Mr Johnson off and on for a while now, especially the whole Summer games thing. he was on Jon Stewart's program last week and he is a boisterous kind of guy who I would like to see doing a jump of the top of the ropes onto Mr. Mitt. I hate wrestling, but it seems to me the next step for conservative parties.
I would like to learn what happens in other countries, but I would miss out on the absolute bedlam that transpires in America.

(492 posts)"No Apology" was written by Romney's ghost a few years ago and purports to be a self portrait of a strong (LOL!) leader. Check out the quote here:
http://www.alan.com/2012/07/26/romney-slammed-england-in-his-book-no-apology/
If the link don't work, here's the quote in full:
England is just a small island. Its roads and houses are small. With few exceptions, it doesnt make things that people in the rest of the world want to buy. And if it hadnt been separated from the continent by water, it almost certainly would have been lost to Hitlers ambitions.
Seriously. That's what he wrote (or allowed to be written for him) about England. Scorn and contempt. Too bad the Mayor nor the P.M. chose to task him about it.
And yet there are people who would choose him over Obama. People who aren't billionaires. People who have to work for a living -- and who should have noticed that they are worker harder and harder for less and less, if they're not being squeezed out of the job market altogether. People who get angry when they're told that non-whites all want "free stuff" and don't blink a goddam eye when they're told that Rmoney received a $77,000 tax deduction for the upkeep of dressage horses. $77,000! Enough to provide wages for 2 families (albeit not permitting luxurious living) -- and he gets it -- "free stuff" -- because of dressage horses. Worse, he salted the wound by insisting, when asked about those horses, that he didn't really know anything about them, had no intention of watching them in the Olympics, they were just something his wife handled, yada yada yada.
This man will destroy the Republic given the chance.

(81,466 posts)All he did was address a crowd, telling them (paraphrasing) "there's someone here named mitt romney who wonders if we're ready. He's asking if we're ready. Are we ready?" And the crowd went wild.
So THAT constitutes an "attack"? Pretty thin skin if you ask me.
Hell, an attack is what they're pounding Obama with as often as they breathe, in carpet-bombed commercials talking about how lousy he is and how naive he is and how he broke promises and Obama's this and Obama's that all over the proverbial map. Mayor Boris Johnson merely made a statement - this fellow said this. Are we ready? That's no "attack." That's a question. Just because it might be an uncomfortable or inconvenient question, it doesn't qualify as an "attack." Blowing things out of proportion much, mittwits?

Romney needs to face facts, he had this all coming precisely because he never learned how to be gracious. We saw that in his high school bullying where he cut another students hair off with sissors while goon buddies held him down. Or the family vacation where he strapped the family dog to the top of the car then hosed him off when he got sick and stuck him right back up there. His personal life has been pocked with really dumb things.
