Hunter suggests assaulting reporter could be justifiable if reporter 'deserved it'

Source: East County Magazine

Congressman Duncan Hunter, asked by capitol reporters what he thought about Montana Congressional Candidate Greg Gianforte bodyslamming a reporter, replied that is’ “not appropriate behavior” then clarified, “unless the reporter deserved it,” the Hill reports.

Gianforte was charged with assault against a reporter from the Guardian last night who asked his views on a Congressional Budget Office report on the GOP healthcare bill.

The one lesson that can be learned is that Tr*mp supporters have the moral standards of sewer rats. They all sold their souls in order to act out their cultural resentments.

Also I'd love to see some reporter pepper spray the next asshole who manhandles a journalist. They need an immediate price to pay for such boorish and potentially dangerous actions.

of beating up reporters is right up the alley of these fascists: suppress scrutiny of con policies and actions by intimidating reporters.

If they can't control the media to the degree they want because of laws protecting freedom of the press, they will turn to extralegal means, i.e. intimidation and violence. dump is truly a man of the times in that respect.

Disgusting and I hope that the media continues to expose the horrible policies and actions of dump and his ilk.

Oh, and lil Duncan Jr. is a complete asshat. I know--I used to reside in his district. Rode in on daddy's coattails and hasn't done anything worthwhile ever.

I predict that soon we see more Republicans attacking those that challenge them.
It could be put of the new norm.

Our local news outlet ran the "Body Slamming" story on Facebook. The majority of replies were from Trumpettes. The burden of guilt belongs to the reporter. The reporter should have followed orders when told to leave. One such Einstein said he hoped beating up on reporters would be a start of a new trend.

This is what we are dealing with here and I'm sure it's even worse elsewhere.

Or anything like that.

It was just about a specific bill in congress on healthcare.

But according to the reporter, they were on a break between interviews and resetting a new shot, so he decided to get in a question since they were standing around.

There's a huge difference between aggressive paparazzi causing danger and invading your home, and an aggressive reporter asking a question in public.

They always must cite the one time it's okay to break the law, like on the show 24 to buffer poor behavior. "But...isn't it okay to torture a terrorist to make them divulge how to disarm a bomb that is ticking down and will kill millions of people if not stopped?"

Their wording on this is wrong though. It's not okay if a reporter "deserves it". If someone runs into the room and threatens people with a gun, yeah, you kick his ass if you are able. But there's no sort of nonphysical prehistory that adds up to the justification for beating a reporter for trying to do their job.
