Greitens calls St. Louis officials radical' for pro-choice ordinance, vows state will undo it
Source: STL Post Dispatch
We had some radical politicians in St. Louis who passed legislation to make St. Louis an abortion sanctuary city,' where it would make it illegal . . . for organizations like Our Lady's Inn and other pro-life groups just to hire pro-life workers, Greitens told reporters after the tour. So we're out here to protect pregnancy care centers.
The issue once again highlights the major ideological rift between St. Louis, a heavily Democratic city, and the conservative Republicans who control the Legislature and the governor's office. In May, the Legislature passed a measure effectively overturning a St. Louis ordinance that created a higher minimum wage in the city than the statewide minimum.
When asked whether such moves by the state overruling the city's own elected leaders on city issues might violate the core conservative principle of local control, Greitens acknowledged the conflict, but said the abortion issue takes precedent.
I want to support local control, but when we have radical politicians who want to do things like attack the work of a wonderful organization like Our Lady's Inn . . . we have to stand up and defend them, said Greitens. We're going to support them, we're going to have their back.

(13,523 posts)he has called a special session in the last month. The first was just a couple weeks ago. This is ridiculous. He is costing the state more money by doing this-money that could be used elsewhere.
He is a trump wanna be. Rarely will he talk to reporters or have news conferences. He communicates by way of Facebook or Twitter with the public! There is speculation he wants to run for President. He has no political experience before becoming Governor this year and as far as I'm concerned he is failing horribly.
