Jeff Sessions 'to Deny Third Meeting With Ambassador'

Source: Newsweek

BY JOSH LOWE ON 6/13/17 AT 10:12 AM

Attorney General Jeff Sessions will tell the Senate Intelligence Committee that he did not hold an undisclosed meeting with a Russian official in April 2016, according to reports.

Former FBI director James Comey told the committee last week that Sessions may have had a previously undisclosed meeting with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak, according to CNN, which reported that Comey made the claim in a closed hearing based on intercepted Russian communications.

But appearing before the committee in an open hearing today, Sessions will say he did not meet with Kislyak at the Mayflower Hotel in April 2016, the date in question, according to sources who spoke to Axios.

Sources close to Sessions say that he was at an event at the hotel, but doesn't recall any interaction with Kislyak and didn't peel off for a private meeting, the site reported. According to the sources, Sessions will also dispute the account Comey gave under oath of a conversation between the two men.

They lie like it's a bodily function. It's scary how much they lie.

IIRC, it was reported the info on a 3rd meeting was from an intercepted call from Kislyak to Russia where Kislyak told his bosses of meeting w/Sessions. The caveat was that perhaps Kislyak was exaggerating his influence on Trump at to Moscow by claiming a 3rd mtg with Sessions.

I think at this point, I'd probably believe two Russians talking over anything Sessions, Trump or anyone in that orbit says.

I thought that Sessions said there were no communications or contacts with Russians from anyone in the campaign that he was aware of?

It wouldn't have to be specifically a private meeting, to fail to meet his original denial. If they had contact, or communications, like handshaking or a even brief exchange of words, that seems to contradict Sessions testimony under oath.

There were three campaign events which Sessions billed expenses to the campaign in five months that Sessions now claims that he forgot, and this third one, at the Mayflower Hotel, for Trump's Foreign Policy speech, one that Sessions was involved in crafting with Richard Burt, how could something that important to the campaign fail to be remembered?

Sessions claims there were no contacts, or communications, yet here is another big event that was attended by not only Sessions, but Trump and other campaign staff, with Russians there and even a private cocktail party took place, yet we are supposed to believe that there was no communication that took place at this party, this was the event he somehow never added to his amended testimony.

Even if Sessions denies that he personally didn't meet with Kislyak at the Mayflower, that doesn't address if other people might have, we know that there were both Russians and Trump Campaign staff at this event.
