By DAVID TAINTOR Published JUNE 14, 2017 8:53 AM

President Donald Trump released a statement Wednesday about a shooting at a congressional baseball practice outside of Washington, D.C., saying he was “deeply saddened by this tragedy.”

Trump tweeted that Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), who was injured in the shooting, will “fully recover.”

But it's different if you're a Democrat, say for example an opposing candidate for the Presidency of the United States. Regarding the possibility of a Clinton win, Gropenfuhrer said:

“If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks,” Trump said, before adding: “Although the second amendment people – maybe there is, I don’t know.”

and perfectly happy to let Capitol Police die protecting them.

No profiles in courage in that bunch.

Some have them have been just recently calling for violence against elected officials, so isn't this what they wanted?

I don't mean the comments that he likely didn't write it; I mean the "well they deserved it and they'd be glad if it was one of us" tripe.

We are struggling right now to be a nation that rules by the ballot and not by the gun, and any use of the gun is abhorrent and should be simply, soundly condemned. If we smile those who hate us will feel vindicated in all the horrible things they have said and will say.

I wish for NO man's or woman's death except when I am at my lowest, most mean and least civilized.

Please, please don't contribute to our collapse.

I'm thinking that the snark here (including mine) is directed mainly at Gropenfuhrer's hypocritical tweet, but you're absolutely spot on that we need to keep that separate from the act.

Violence is never, ever the answer. It's tragic for all of us. The world becomes a little less safe. Nothing good will ever come from it.

"WE" are not "struggling right now to be a nation that rules by the ballot and not the gun".

Democrats and the Democratic Party ARE "struggling right now to be a nation that rules by the ballot and not the gun".

Trumpster and the ReTrumplican Party...and their Alt-Right base...and their militias...and the death threats they've used to cause Democrats to drop out of Congressional races... and their embrace of Putin, etc., etc., etc., demonstrates that THEY don't give a shit about "ballots".

Remember during the 2016 campaign, when Trump told huge audience that he expected, if Hillary Clinton won the election, that "Second Amendment citizens" would do something to rid us of Hillary and her liberal judges.

And now it appears that a "Second Amendment citizen" has come forward to try to solve the nation's problems .... the only trouble is this citizen was a Democrat.

But he was acting on Donald Trump's words. Trump did more than merely suggest; he issued a call to action, and this guy responded to it.
