Alex Jones releases secretly-taped audio of Megyn Kelly interview
Source: MSN/The Hill
Alex Jones on Thursday released secretly-taped audio of his interview with Megyn Kelly three days before the official airing was supposed to occur on NBC.
Jones, a conspiracy theorist and Infowars founder, offered a preview of what was going to be released in a 2-minute, 20-second video clip that appears to include off-the-record conversation with the former Fox News host in Kelly. The interview is set to air Sunday.
"I've never done this in 22 years, I've never recorded another journalist," Jones said in a Twitter video. "I've never done this, but I knew that it was a fraud, that it was a lie."
"It's not going to be some gotcha hit piece, I can promise you that." Kelly is heard saying to Jones.

And they loss Tamron Hall for this?

(13,043 posts)i've completely tuned off this network. They've never been able to recover from that. Doesn't surprise me they've sunken lower with firing beautiful and talented Tamron Hall and replacing her with this blond rightwing touting ditz who came from Fox. This network has lost all credibility.

"I think the issue here is the way that they have thus far presented it has not led to the belief that he's held to account as much as somebody who spews such hatred and nonsense needs to be," Zucker, the former head of NBCUniversal, said. "If you're going to do this story, the tease needs to be you holding up a picture of the dead kids at Sandy Hook and saying, 'How dare you?' And I think their marketing of this has thus far been unfortunate."
If NBC makes Jones look even the SLIGHTEST BIT sane and responsible, then I hope the parents of those children sue the ever loving crap out of NBC, and Megyn Kelly in particular.
"It's not going to be some gotcha hit piece, I can promise you that." Kelly is heard saying to Jones. WELL IT DAMNED WELL OUGHT TO BE! Jones deserves nothing less for the pain and heartache he's caused with his incessant conspiracy bullshit about Sandy Hook.
I'm not a religious man, but I wish there IS A REAL PLACE IN HELL reserved for that deplorable piece of monkey crap named, "Alex Jones".

(1,201 posts)when it comes to this nutjob. Just asking legitimate questions about his actions and rhetoric would sound like a hit piece.

(6,241 posts)would be a hit piece. Anything that wouldn't look like it to him would be fawning on him or saying "You know... you have a point. I never thought of it that way." That type of personality is very fragile. He can't stand to be challenged. He'll blow up like when he was screaming about the gay frogs.
Is he a character, is it an act? Or is that really who he is on TV? Either one is horrifying. He fancies himself a journalist.

Of course, even if that were the case, it wouldn't necessarily mean the interview was anything near as tough and revealing as America needs it to be.

(4,461 posts)... neither of them can lay claim to that title. It made me laugh until I remembered the fucking president of the US - and his fans - DO consider him a journalist, and listen to him with religious fervor, and actually take action based on what spews out of his mouth.

(2,008 posts)Kelly now needs it to be a fairly tough piece if she's to maintain (?) any credibility at all. Then again, in order to edit it into a tough piece, you have to have something tough that was filmed in the first place. Fortunately for her, as the administration proves every day, credibility seems to have been overrated.

(9,753 posts)...on him, she could have used existing footage, fleshed out by having a producer confront Jones with the story's main points, capturing footage of the amusing teakettle noises that Jones makes when excited.

(14,174 posts)Probably one of the few times MK spoke the truth.
And one of the times where a "gotcha hit piece" is totally apropos. If this was an interview with Jake Tapper from CNN or Rachel Maddow or any other real journalist, I'd watch because I'd know they'd hold his feet to the fire. Megyn is there to humanize him, make him look harmless, make him look legitimate. This should be a 60 Minutes style set em up and knock em down style interview.
I'm sure there will be one or two "Some say you are ....." type questions that he will be prepared for. But I predict very few followups and mostly fluff.
But of course Jones, in his perpetual paranoia, records the interview himself just to make sure.
