WASHINGTON (AP) Kuwait has given Qatar a list of demands from Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations that includes shutting down Al-Jazeera and cutting diplomatic ties to Iran.
Thats according to a list obtained by The Associated Press from one of the countries involved in the dispute. The document says Qatar has 10 days to comply with all demands.
The list says Qatar must immediately close Turkeys military base in Qatar and end military cooperation with the NATO member. It also demands an unspecified sum of compensation from Qatar.
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain cut ties to Qatar this month over accusations the Persian Gulf country funds terrorism. The U.S. has been urging them to produce a list of demands. Kuwait is helping mediate.

Shut down Al Jazeera. Now there's a surprise... NOT!

(35,359 posts)It's incisive, cutting, speaking truth to power. Until suddenly its agenda doesn't quite match the evaluator's, then it's horribly biased.
Until a couple of years ago, RT was a staple here, exposing the truth about how bad some aspects of America were and the truth about the horrible things the US (and NATO, among others) did abroad. Now it's tainted not because what it said was so skewed as to be deceptive, but because Russia is evil for helping Trump.
AJ's the same, but with a different slant on the news.

However when he turned his focus onto the Obama administration, all of a sudden he was a ratfucking, rapist spy that needed to be dragged out to the street and summarily dispatched.
For the right it was the other way round.

(59,504 posts)This will not resolve the sectarian conflict, which is the only thing that could help end the wars. Isolating Qatar does not hinder them in attacking Syria and Yemen. In fact, the root cause of the quarrel is likely that Qatar has a relationship with Iran. If you want to end the war between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, you need to consider that it is a proxy war with Iran. An Arab country that has relations with Iran could well be used for any preliminary ceasefire discussions. Qatar could have been part of the solution.
This actually sounds like something written explaining the neo con view of the Middle east.
