Ten Commandments monument installed at Arkansas Capitol

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Workers installed a Ten Commandments monument outside Arkansas' Capitol on Tuesday, two years after lawmakers approved a measure permitting the privately funded statue on state grounds.

The 6-foot-tall (1.8-meter-tall), 6,000-pound (2,721-kilogram) monument was installed on the southwest lawn of the Capitol with little fanfare and no advance notice. A 2015 law required the state to allow the display near the Capitol, and a state panel last month gave final approval to its design and location.

"We have a beautiful Capitol grounds but we did not have a monument that actually honored the historical, moral foundation of law," Republican Sen. Jason Rapert, who sponsored the measure requiring the monument's installation, said.

The American Civil Liberties Union said it plans to file a lawsuit in federal court challenging the display, calling it an unconstitutional endorsement of religion by the state. The group said it did not have a timeline for filing the lawsuit.

So how do they explain Cheeto 45?

The only "witness" he knows how to bear is completely false. Time to impeach!

Also what does this have to do with senators carrying handguns?
It seems the tweet doesn't match the story.

Jesus, people, f'ing read your bibles!

Here are Moses' Official 10 Commandments - the final ones that ended up in the Ark of the Covenant:
(Exodus 34)
1. Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
2. Do not make any idols.
3. Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread. For seven days eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you. Do this at the appointed time in the month of Aviv, for in that month you came out of Egypt.
4. The first offspring of every womb belongs to me, including all the firstborn males of your livestock, whether from herd or flock.
5. Redeem the firstborn donkey with a lamb, but if you do not redeem it, break its neck. Redeem all your firstborn sons. No one is to appear before me empty-handed.
6. Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest, you must rest.
7. Celebrate the Festival of Weeks with the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and the Festival of Ingathering at the turn of the year.
8. Three times a year all your men are to appear before the Sovereign LORD, the God of Israel.
9. Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to me along with anything containing yeast and do not let any of the sacrifices from the Passover Festival remain until morning.
10. Bring the best of the first fruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God. "Do not cook a young goat in its mother's milk."

The "Thou shalt not kill/covet thy neighbor's ass/Honor thy Mom and Dad" commandments were the first ones after coming back to a Party at the Golden Bull and getting p-o'ed and breaking them in anger (Exodus 20).
He went back up after God called him up and told him "these are my real laws I expect y'all to follow - and make sure all your Isrealites know and follow them..."

As for the prophet/messiah/sacred sacrifice Jesus - at most he only mentioned six laws he called Commandments - with the addition of "this above all, Love thy Neighbor as you Love yourself"
So far as is known in the Western World, these or the ones Jesus tells his followers are the most important:

1 . Thou shalt do no murder
2. Thou shalt not commit adultery
3. Thou shalt not steal (or defraud)
4. Thou shalt not bear false witness
5. Honor thy father and thy mother

Nothing about all the menfolk gathering every three years. Nor anything about graven images, or having no Gods before the big guy.

So, Sen. Rapert is wrong, wrong, wrong - altogether WRONG.

Jesus had 5, maybe 6 commandments, if you want to show off real Christian Cred.
Moses had one draft version and one final from the God you're supposed to be worshipping. And Y'all are picking the draft version that God discarded for his preferred final version.
Just like the rest of your "biblical arguments" - just a hodge-podge out of context to try to prove a point of vanity.

Way to go, slackers.

I find this terribly offensive. God doesn't need the help of the State of Arkansas.

This idol on the Capitol grounds will lead no one to faith. To the extent it moves any, it will be in the other direction.

this has nothing to do with "the foundation of law". Morality is self evident. I'm pretty sure people knew murder was wrong before there was a master list of ten bullet points.
