The new health care deadline: Get a deal by Friday

Senate Republicans have been tasked with reaching a new health care agreement by Friday, two senior GOP aides say. A new draft bill can then be sent to the Congressional Budget Office for analysis over next week's recess, and then the Senate will vote on the bill when it returns.

The problem: The caucus is still dividing on the same key policy issues it couldn't agree on a few hours ago, like how to restructure Medicaid spending and whether to get rid of more Affordable Care Act insurance regulations. Getting 50 senators to yes on the bill is still a heavy three-day lift.

Seven years of lies about the Affordable Care Act and now they have to make a golden solution in 96 hours.

What a farce.

"On day 1", tRump bloviated.

Who knew that providing health insurance to a country of 320 million people would be so complicated?

...is that, for the Repugs, ANY solution is better than failing to deliver on repealing their personal bête noire of Obamacare. Odds are that they'll all come together on a solution, no matter how bad, because the option of admitting failure on this bedrock promise to their base is unthinkable.

and high-tail it over to the White House so they can be yelled at.

Have they failed to recognize that the Senate is a separate and equal branch of government? Is 45 some sleazy little tinpot dictator of a sleazy little tinpot country?

They should have told him to fuck off. If they had any honor or integrity they would have told him to fuck off.

They say WE have no backbone? They are the ones with no backbone and we need to start screaming about their spinelessness.

I wonder if they sang on the bus over the way over, like we used to do, when I rode the bus to school in elementary school?

14. It's not gonna happen. McTurtle is just trying to save face with this.

It'll take weeks. They have to have their all-male, secret meetings to re-shuffle how to extract the 800 billion from Medicaid for tax cuts for their rich client bosses, then they have to submit it to the Kochs for okay, then try to sell it to the Freedom Caucus and the so-called moderate repugs, then they'll get on their faux-Christian knees and pray for a much better CBO score (not) — all that's not going to happen in time for a vote right after the July 4th recess.

What McTurtle is looking at realistically is maybe a slim chance of a vote after the summer recess in August, if at all as this thing looks like it's DOA.
