(58,724 posts)No chance of impeachment.
How about marching for single payer?
Paladin
(28,271 posts)Demands for trump's impeachment need to continue and to gain strength, regardless of who controls Congress.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)But there is zero chance of impeachment happening.

(58,724 posts)We will eventually get there.
Trump will never be impeached - we need to work around him.
But the tide for single payer will come in at some point.
sheshe2
(83,860 posts)No matter really. No way we will survive Dump.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)On both counts.
But I understand where you are coming from.

(83,860 posts)23 million people will suffer and die.
I am on the exchange, I am one of the lucky ones that will have Medicare in a few months...if and only if they don't take that as well.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Maybe it will help get momentum towards single payer or at least a public option.

(83,860 posts)First, at the very least we need to take back the Senate and House.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)I don't see us winning the House, but perhaps the Senate can be flipped.

(92 posts)I think it will come sooner rather than later. As soon as the morons figure out what it actually is, the Republican lawmakers won't be able to ignore the fact that it works in several countries.....really well. Unfortunately we'll have to wait until Congress is a bit more blue, or at least some shade of purple, rather than the blood red it is now.

(17,390 posts)I think they would impeach Trump several times over, rather than raise the taxes needed to fund single payer.
But there is more of a realistic long game with respect to that issue.
Trump will eventually be gone. The health care crisis will need to be addressed again.

(8,704 posts)Just like with the protests against Nixon.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)But there is no point in calling for his impeachment.

(37,748 posts)Nor any point to call for single payer when the GOP controls congress. Six of one, half a dozen of the other in the here and now...
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Whereas Trump will be gone, regardless, at some point. The health care issues has spanned past and will span future administrations.

(10,497 posts)I am with you for marching for Single Payer too, as well as campaign finance reform. Let's take away their Donor money!
We can do more than one issue at a time, we are not the MSM!

(37,748 posts)You believe the Republicans would acquiesce to single payer due to marches? What is the precise and objective difference?
oberliner
(58,724 posts)That will eventually pay off in the (hopefully) medium term future.
I don't see Trump impeachment as something that will ever happen, but thankfully, he will eventually be gone.

(2,809 posts)Albeit perhaps a lunatic that may have some sense of "conscience", when I hear M. Pence say hes a Christ Crunch Cereal eater, a conservabigot and an Uglican in that order, I truly fear that conscience could be of the sort that would put LGBT in starvation camps.
I'm just saying impeaching the narcissistic idiot may feel good on the surface, but after this last election, there's no good way out of this mess.
Perhaps my survival skills and creative ways to spice up grubs and worms may come in handy after all.
Sometimes this life can seem like it is one long test of how much idiotic bullshit anyone with more than two intracranial neurons to rub together can stand. I've certainly stood slack-jawed at exactly how ignorant some life forms that appear to have relatively enlarged cranial cavities can act, especially after enough indoctrination from the likes of RW media or so called "christian" dogma. The truly alarming fact is those of the ignorant ilk also tend to be hot headed and insanely well armed.
So, honestly, I'm unsure if I would personally feel safer under an aimless fool utilizing the highest office in the land to enrich himself and his good old boys or a purposeful bigot determined to organize WHISIS as an armed insurrection against all things "liberal".
What a perfect storm of delusional fuckery we've become, of none of our own will.

(51,624 posts)This march had more 45 supporters than I've ever seen before (about 150) and they were mean, baiting, antagonistic asses. We were cool and they actually propelled us into being louder and as we ignored them (they were pissed off). Many intelligent people from all over Southern CA attended and tons of supporters came and joined us, honked their car horns, etc. We aren't snowflakes and we aren't going away. I guess the fake prez's supporters went home and kicked some old ladies for jollies. I am glad I live in a blue city and state.
Resist! Peace.

(1,474 posts)Like any bully, when he is challenged he freaks out.
We need to pressure him as much and in any way we can.
The more he reacts, the more he exposes what GOP is.
Be aggressive. Be hostile. Fight as if the soul of our country depends on it (It does!).
The GOP rattlesnakes will commit suicide. They can not impeach him because they must cling to his deplorable base.
Force them to ride on their disgusting journey to hell. And to irrelevance.
