On Tuesday morning, a hacker going by the name Johnnie Walker sent a group email to an unknown number of recipients claiming to have a trove of emails from the private account of a U.S. intelligence official.
The U.S. State Department officers email has been hacked, the email announced, and included at least two years worth of personal emails from the private Gmail account of a State Department official working in the secretive intelligence arm of the State Department focusing on Russia.
The sender said the archive included exchanges between the official and CIA officers and other intelligence agencies, mainstream media, NGOs, and international funds that would give you evidence of who is responsible for agenda formation in many countries worldwide, especially where the situation is insecure.
The official involved is in a senior position in the State Departments Bureau of Intelligence and Research, according to a 2017 department directory. Even though the officials name is public, Foreign Policy is not identifying him at the departments request, citing security concerns.

(9,897 posts)I HOPE that the Russians bother to hack it and try to make a big deal of it...I am promising Kompromat on Obama, Biden, Clinton, Gore, Pelosi and the DNC itself....of course, I have nothing but fund-raising e-mails from any of them....but that's not what its gonna look like after a couple dozen free e-mail accounts and some creative writing....

(1 post)The name of the 6th person would be in the list of 100 new names added to Kushners amended contacts. I bet you will find the 5th Russian/American lobbyist name on that list - A random number those 100 names - meant to hide info and at the same time protect him should the info come to light - he can say he listed them without drawing immediate scrutiny in public.

(101,355 posts)That's disappointing. I'd assume anything on Gmail was hackable. The article seems to be saying it's all unclassified stuff, but includes discussions about articles to read for work and so on.
