mid uncertainty over the future of the Affordable Care Act, former Vice President Joe Biden on Monday slammed the GOPs efforts to repeal the landmark health care law in a Washington Post op-ed.
Biden chided his former Senate colleagues despite Majority Leader Mitch McConnells attempt to appease undecided senators with an additional $45 billion put into the GOPs revised health care bill to combat the opioid epidemic. But my longtime Senate colleague is, I believe, missing the point Biden wrote. You cant take away comprehensive health insurance from people struggling with opioid addiction and then just throw $2 billion or, for that matter, $45 billion their way for treatment.
Biden said that the days before the Affordable Care Act are not a sustainable model and that the GOP plan would take Americans back to that time.
The ACA isnt perfect, but the choices we made when designing the law flowed from a commitment to provide the best possible care to the most people," Biden wrote.
