The U.S. Department of Labor on Tuesday called for public comments on the rule, which is the first step in revoking or revising it.
The rule would have doubled to $47,000 the maximum salary a worker can earn and still be eligible for mandatory overtime pay under federal wage law. A group of 21 states and business groups including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce challenged the rule in a lawsuit filed last year.....................................

They want to turn the clock back to 1910 when kids had to work in factories 7 days a week for 10 hours a day and 10 cents and be grateful for the opportunity.
They don't want to spend their inherited or dirty money on anyone else and that is why they voted NO to healthcare. No more lazy, dirty beggars using their food and oxygen.

In this time of radical government and upheaval should be the time we make our voices heard! We need a populist leader to step out and direct this show. Bernie has been great, and maybe he can do it, but we need someone with name recognition lighting up the internet, organizing us into a force to be reckoned with!
They are stealing us blind now grabbing everything they always wanted. At this rate they will have our SS in a year!

(129,543 posts)to give the ability for certain workers (often "pink collar"/service industry including medical services) to get time and a half for overtime, since their occupations often have a pay range > $47k (approx. $25/hr pay & higher), but more and more with "required" 12-hour (or more) shift situations.

(2,191 posts)When the rule was initially passed in the 70s, something like 60% of people were eligible for overtime. Now only 7% are. Businesses claim that this is too big a jump in salary, but they've resisted salary increases for years.
