The former partner of ex-president Alvaro Uribe's late brother will be extradited to the United States this week to face charges related to her alleged ties to the Mexican Sinaloa cartel, local media reported Wednesday.
Dolly Cifuentes is suspected of ties to the Cifuentes Villa clan, responsible for trafficking over 30 tons of cocaine into the U.S. between 2009 and 2011, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
According to the research center Nuevo Arco Iris, federal courts in south Florida and New York requested Cifuentes' extradition in June for her alleged ties to the notorious Mexican Sinaloa Cartel. Joaquin Guzman, alias "El Chapo," the head of the Sinaloa Cartel, is considered the worlds most wanted drug lord.
Nuevo Arco Iris has also reported that Cifuentes, 48, is mother to two children by Uribe's younger brother, Jaime Alberto Uribe, who died of throat cancer in 2001. One of these children is also wanted by U.S. police.
