Boy Scouts 'Unaware' of Call Trump Said He Received From Organization Praising Jamboree Speech

Source: TIME

President Donald Trump told the Wall Street Journal that after his controversial speech at the Boy Scouts National Jamboree in West Virginia, the head of the Boy Scouts called him and told him it was the greatest speech that was ever made to them. But the organization told TIME they are unaware of any call from national leadership placed to the White House.

“The Chief Scout Executive’s message to the Scouting community speaks for itself,” the organization said, referring to a July 27 statement from Michael Surbaugh, the Chief Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, who apologized to anyone in the scouting community who could have been offended or alarmed by the political rhetoric in the speech.

“For years, people have called upon us to take a position on political issues, and we have steadfastly remained non-partisan and refused to comment on political matters. We sincerely regret that politics were inserted into the Scouting program,” Surbaugh wrote.

The President also told the paper he did not find his politicized speech to the Boy Scouts last month to be controversial, despite Surbaugh’s apology.

Is that caused by not getting enough praise as a child, or getting too much? I think there must also be a nature AND nurture equation going on.

Truly "Fake News"...

"President Donald Trump told the Wall Street Journal that after his controversial speech at the Boy Scouts National Jamboree in West Virginia, the head of the Boy Scouts called him and told him it was the greatest speech that was ever made to them."

During the campaign I read a story that even Trumps own lawyers representing him in legal matters got to the point where they would not meet him 1 on 1. Whenever they would have to go discuss an issue with Trump they would go in pairs because of his aversion to truth.

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/10/6/1578559/-Trump-s-lawyers-testified-they-met-with-him-in-pairs-to-ensure-he-wouldn-t-lie-about-their-meetings

"BuzzFeed and several other news outlets were able to obtain the court filings related to several of Donald Trump’s bankruptcies in the early 1990s. As news outlets begin to dig, Twitter user @nycsouthpaw immediately noticed something in the 1993 filing—Donald Trump’s lawyer admitted they had to meet with him in pairs because of his penchant for lying.

The key part can be seen here, but I’ve transcribed for easier reading. Check out this exchange in the deposition of Trump bankruptcy lawyer Patrick T. McGhan, key parts emphasized:

Q: You had a meeting on June 16, 1990?

A: Right. Same identical entry. Right. Okay. For three quarters of an hour with Donald, right.

Q: Did Mr. Miller always do everything together with you when he was active in this case?

A: Not everything, but we—it’s always been our practice to make sure two people are present, and we don’t have a problem of people lying.

Q: You are meeting with your client?

A: That’s right. Our client. Hey, Trump is a leader in the field of expert—he’s an expert at interpreting things. Let’s put it that way.

Q: That’s interestingly put. As I recall in your letter to Mr. Descantis, which we marked yesterday, you indicated the policy of your office was to have two attorneys present for meeting with public officials?

A: Correct.

Q: Here you are meeting with your client?

A: That’s right.

Q: Was it necessary for both you and Mr. Miller to always attend the meeting —

A: We always do that.

Q: Always?

A: We tried to do it with Donald always if we could because Donald says certain things and then has a lack of memory."

Does it really matter if Trump lied about it? It's not like anyone is going to get all upset about it, and brand Trump a liar. Everyone already KNOWS he's a liar, so he sees no downside in continuing to lie out of his ass. His supporters will believe it, and that's all that matters to Trump. He knows he's not going to get any new converts at this point, so he's going to keep his base pumped full of the biggest lies he can muster, just to keep smiles on their faces.

He appeals directly to the (much faster) reptile brain / emotional sections of people that are activated by strength/authority morality.
There is very little logical processing going on in their brains to question any of his "facts".

This one is just plain stupid. Easily confirmed as truth or lie, it shows any lack of thought at all by Mr. Trump. He is rambling on and on and needs to say how great he is on this speech he was criticized on. It proves to all that he doesn't think clearly.

After the Boy Scout speech, and what happened afterwards, since he did not apologize, obviously it would be best to "shut up." Claiming, "the greatest speech ever"...makes it worse and shows the world the extent to which Mr. Trump will go to lie.....

but it may be a good thing Why?.. There are some Republicans and supporters who still don't get it. Little by little that, "some" is getting smaller and smaller. This "HUGE LIE",,,, totally unnecessary and quite insensitive and stupid,,,,,, will convince some more Republicans (a few more) that he is a threat. Why lie about this?..A smart person will.."shut up" about this...

Some reporter needs to ask the "head of the Boy Scouts" if he called or not, if he praised the speech or not.

This is more equivocation from this vestige of past organization. It took them days to back off their initial noncommittal response to his reich speech. Now they can't bring themselves to say that the president is lying.

Maybe he isn't. Maybe someone at BSA did call and pucker up of the trump's backside.

Either way, we need someone to fess up and tell the truth. We know it won't be trump. So the BSA should just say that the information coming from the WH is not true or is true. Their "unaware" crap sounds like all the "can't recall" crap that trump supporters use to hide their guilt and shame.

BSA fails again.
