Scaramucci says vulgar remarks about Priebus, Bannon were a joke

Source: The Hill

Anthony Scaramucci, who recently resigned as White House communications director, said Tuesday he was largely "joking" in the comments he made to a New Yorker reporter about other Trump administration officials.

"Most of what I said was humorous and joking," Scaramucci told the Huffington Post on Tuesday, referring to his now infamous phone call to Ryan Lizza. "Legally, it may have been on the record, but the spirit of it was off. And he knew that."

While Scaramucci claims his insulting remarks were mostly not serious, he received strong backlash for his vulgar, expletive-filled phone call that many cable news network hosts have had difficulty repeating on air.

Scaramucci referred to then-White House communications director Reince Priebus as a "f------ paranoid schizophrenic."

What was even funnier was the video showing Scaramucci has memorized all of Trump's truly stupid tiny hand gestures.

turns out that the joke's on you, now doesn't it?

Your high point in life will be about 6 years from now, when your name is nothing but a trivia quiz answer for political junkies at a 'Geeks That Drink' trivia night at the local tavern.

But, you definitely served your purpose...you were the fall guy that fired Priebus. That was the sole purpose that you were brought in for. Job well done - now you can fade off into your well-deserved obscurity.

from Tromp on down, everything is a joke to them. Every time they get called out for their thuggish behavior, they act like they were just doing a stand up comedy act. No, they aren't really the highest government officials in the country, they're just a bunch of jokers.

Trump's encouragement for police brutality was all "tongue in cheek". I heard a pundit say that tonight.

Nobody in his/her right mind thinks that was funny.

that he thought everything he said to the reporter was "off the record". Why would you want a "joke" off the record?
Now his story has changed, and his statements weren't "off the record", they now were meant as "a joke".
He learned his deceit from Trump, who keeps changing the stories about HIS comments as well. Everything Trump says now "is a joke". Well, the country isn't getting the punchline, and his "jokes" seem more like the ramblings of a man who can't recall his previous lies, so he has to create new and better lies.
Trump has serious mental problems, and I'm surprised his family isn't more concerned about his mental state. I think they're afraid to approach the subject with him, just like every Republican in the country. They're just making believe everything is fine, that there's been no change in his demeanor whatsoever. He's just plain old, "normal" Donald.

Sorry, no. When more than half the country is saying, "Whoa, dude, not cool, violation of Wheaton's First Law*," there is no getting out of it with "jeez, it was just a joke..."

Learn to speak like a responsible adult, not a sophomore on the football team who is only maintaining a generous C average because his dad's on the school board and his coach teaches history class. Your scam victims may be impressed by shop-worn high school antics. The rest of us aren't.

It lets them off the hook (only in their own mind) and makes the other person weaker because
1. They were not able to understand the joke and
2. The other person is lesser because they cried foul, making the abuser the injured party.
Classic abuser speak. Look out for it, especially in this misadministration.
Joke, indeed.

One would think he would know

1. Don't say anything to a reporter you don't want published. Reporters report. That's their job. There is no "off the record".

2. Saying something was "just a joke" isn't an excuse.
