Cops: Dentist treated patients while drunk, staff called 911

MARS, Pa. (AP) — Police say a dentist in Pennsylvania tried to work on patients while drunk, and after his staff called 911 he told responding officers he'd had an entire bottle of vodka.

The Butler Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/2wBJDyd ) Gregory Bellotti is charged with public drunkenness and reckless endangerment.

Police say his staff at Refresh Dental Management in Mars called authorities on March 23 to report someone with an "altered level of consciousness."

When officers arrived, they found Bellotti heavily intoxicated. He was treated at a hospital for alcohol poisoning.

"Entire bottle of vodka." Could be any amount imaginable. Why not specify his blood alcohol level? truthisfreedom Aug 2017 #7

I had a dental hygienist work on me once that was either high on prescription meds, insane, or drunk, and possibly all three. She kept forgetting what she was doing or where she left things. I suddenly remembered another appointment that I had to be at, and high-tailed outta there.

...goung to a dentist in New Orleans to get my teeth cleaned, and a female dental hygienist tore my gums all to pieces...I was guessing that a boyfriend had just dissed her something terrible 'cause I was having to stop her every 20 to 30 seconds to spit out the blood that was gagging me. She kept saying that I needed to stop flinching so much, and it wouldn't hurt so bad!

...she wasn't drunk...at least I don't think so.

I asked her if she ever saw doctors on duty really drunk, and what happened to them.

She told me she saw a number of drunk and/or stoned doctors, and they didn't dare report them.
If they did, their own careers would be over.
Luckily they found ways around the intoxicated doctor.

"Law And Order" did an episode with a drunk doctor.
It ended with the doctor returning to court after downing 13 shots at a bar, and failing a standard DUI test in court.

the intoxicated doctor had killed a young girl who only needed some antibiotics....her dad was a former medic and knew something was wrong and pursued it....based on a true case no doubt
