Faced with a stampede of CEO defections, President Donald Trump tweeted early this afternoon that he was disbanding both of his advisory groups of business leaders.
..............
The president's tweet followed the announcements Wednesday that the leaders of Minnesota-based 3M and Campbell Soup had quit his manufacturing council, while a second strategic and advisory group was on the verge of collapse.
"Racism and murder are unequivocally reprehensible and are not morally equivalent to anything else that happened in Charlottesville," said Denise Morrison, the head of Campbell Soup, who became the 8th executive to announce in a statement that she was leaving the manufacturing council. "I believe the President should have been and still needs to be unambiguous on that point."
.........................................
Trump's strategic and advisory council a separate group chaired by key ally Steven Schwarzman, the head of Blackstone was reportedly on the verge of disbanding, CNBC and the New York Times reported.

President Trumps two major councils of top CEOs disbanded Wednesday in the wake of his controversial remarks over the recent racially-charged violence in Charlottesville, Va.
Several corporate leaders had announced they were resigning from the Presidents Strategic and Policy Forum as well as a separate manufacturing council in recent days after Trump was slow to condemn white supremacy groups.
But on Twitter, Trump said it was his decision to disband both councils. Rather than putting pressure on the businesspeople of the Manufacturing Council & Strategy & Policy Forum. I am ending both, he tweeted.
The dissolution of the council is a major setback for a president who had cast himself as a business leader who could bring greater prosperity to companies and the economy.

The whole thing was farce anyway. I think perhaps all those CEOs wanted to at least appear to be working on stuff related to the mission but there was zilch coming out of the Drumpf administration to even bother working with them - notably people like Wilbur Ross.

(5,914 posts)Cartman is really very smart, can work with people in pursuit of a goal, is educable, and, on occasion, he actually feels remorse for bad stuff that he's done.
Trump has none of this. He is worse than Eric Cartman.

(129,069 posts)It was all a smoke and mirrors farce - perhaps not from their standpoint but from Drumpf's standpoint. A simpleton dog and pony show to make it look like he gave a damn.

Who Is Jacob Wohl? That is the question, but the answer is not so simple. ... As Jacob Wohls August 7 administrative hearing before the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) approaches, the 19-year old hedge fund boy wonder told ValueWalk he is up 7% year to date while operating yet another new strategy. He is also enamored with US President Donald Trump and his son Donald Trump Jr. retweeting him, a point he wants the world to recognize.
....
Who Is Jacob Wohl? Registered letters in administrative case dont find the answer
Wohl stands accused of Fraud in Connection with the Offer or Sale of Securities, according to ACC documents, as previously reported in ValueWalk. The National Futures Association had previously banned the teen from membership for life after an investigation into his promotional activities and surrounding charges he improperly handled investor assets.
On July 17, registered letters from the ACC regarding the trial were returned to sender. Wohl would not publicly say if he planned on attending nor would he comment on the trial other than to say the ACC has an old address. Communication is functioning, he said of his dialogue with the ACC. {Update 7/27/2017: Wohl says he has retained the law firm of Tiffany and Bosco, an Arizona law firm, to represent him.}
The ACC is currently involved in a matter involving Federal investigators. In an unrelated case, the ACC is reported to be part of a wider FBI investigation, but the details in the case would not be revealed to defense attorneys unless they promised to keep them confidential.
