I had a friend from college who I met some years ago and he stayed in the small town where the college was located and I wondered why didn't go to graduate school like the rest of the people in our group, he was a very smart guy and ambitious.

He levelled with me telling me that he married the daughter of the local AAA organization.

I said isn't that a non profit and he laughed.

AAA officers aren't chosen by membership but by the board that perpetuates itself like a business.

And the salaries? Unbelievably high. In this small city he said that the top family member was over $ 300k but the trick is that all of the family members are on the payroll.

I asked him how about AAA of Southern California, he said it would be millions a year.

A lot of the people at AAA make commissions from insurance sales and aren't paid by membership dues.

He said that once he found out what he would be inheriting he couldn't afford to leave.

It's only a dream, but it would surely make them cringe.
