Breitbart Editor Declares 'WAR,' Warns Of 'Schwarzenegger 2.0' Without Bannon

Source: Talking Points Memo

By MATT SHUHAM Published AUGUST 18, 2017 3:19 PM

After declaring “WAR” following news of White House chief strategist Steve Bannon’s ouster, Breitbart News’ senior editor-at-large wrote that President Donald Trump risked becoming “Schwarzenegger 2.0.”

-snip-

Like Trump, Breitbart’s Joel Pollak wrote, Schwarzenegger ran for California’s governorship “as a celebrity outsider, promising to reform a corrupt, wasteful and lethargic political system, reaching across party lines.”

“But after struggling with intense media criticism, and after losing a key referendum on reforms to state government, Schwarzenegger gave up on his agenda, and abandoned the political base that had brought him into office,” he added. “He re-invented himself as a liberal, embracing policies such as California’s controversial cap-and-trade program, which had zero effect on climate change but has chased businesses, jobs, and middle-class families out of the state.” Pollak’s message was clear: Trump, in dismissing Bannon, had made a serious mistake.

“Bannon was not just Trump’s master strategist, the man who turned a failing campaign around in August 2016 and led one of the most remarkable come-from-behind victories in political history,” Pollak wrote. “He was also the conservative spine of the administration.”

Could mean that Breitbart is ready to attack Trump

Could mean that Breitbart is ready to attack people in the White House that they believe are more moderate, and are preventing Trump from moving further right.

Could mean that Breitbart is ready to "softly" attack Trump, where they don't really hurt him, but say things that could influence him to move further right, which is sort of what the "Schwarzenegger 2.0" could be. It doesn't directly attack him, but it sort of threatens him to move further to the right.

Without that base, Trump doesn't get into the White House. They do have some influence.

I don't think breitbart is known at all outside of online political forums. Occasionally, you will see a mainstream straight news article refer to them beyond just being bannon's past and I always wonder why they make a reference to it at all.

All of these crazy websites were begun many years ago as personal opinion blogs. This includes breitbart, drudge and countless more. Somehow, during the W Junta, you would start to see the sites' names appearing in real news pieces. The entire idea that their content warrants mention has never made sense to me. But maybe that's just the way things are now where anything posted anywhere online is noteworthy merely because ... it's there on the internet somewhere.

He would scream at protesters for Republican Party. Make fake videos for Republican party.

Way to many Republican events with open bars and all you can eat pulled pork, mac n cheese buffets. Breibart dropped dead outside his home-all alone. Republicans funded the website we have today because fox isn't hateful enough.

27. Breitbart's power is in conduits and masses

Breitbart serves as a more respectable source for fringe news stories and spin. They get picked up by Drudge which goes through a conduit to Politico (the whole purpose of Politico is to get Drudge into MSM).

The subscribers to Breitbart are his flying monkeys that are dispatched into the web. Across boards and comments. He tapped into the gaming crowd of frustrated white males.

Bannon's a smart guy but, no, they don't have much actual political power. I attribute this to self promotion to continue bilking people out of money.

I had thought that it may be possible that Trump would seek another route to win, which would be to change his agenda entirely.

If, in fact, Trump did seek to "govern from the center," he would definitely see his popularity increase in the aggregate.

TRump goes with his gut which doesn't contain an ounce of fairness or ability to govern "govern from the center," no matter what he previously said.

Before running of the presidency, Trump was for women's choice. He hated abortions but said that it was a woman's choice on whether or not to have one. He was also in favor of a ban on assault rifles. He became a Republican because knew that the people who would vote for him as a Republican were not very bright.
