This counter-protest needs some exposure.

(15,682 posts)Such an unlikely place to do this. There's Newport, Huntington, and Sunset right up the road. All more conservative, though OC is not the ultra conservative place it used to be. We went purple last election. The trouble Huntington had in the recent past was instigated mostly by
outsiders, I've been told.

(2,771 posts)There was video on the 11 o'clock news last night (CBS or NBC affiliate). The protest for jerks is/was today. I've heard nothing so far. I'm in Ventura County, at the northern reaches of LA. Laguna is in the south. I probably won't know about it until the local evening news comes on.

(51,604 posts)Everyone in blue Cross cities knows that statistics prove crime committed by "illegals" has been down. In fact legal citizens have been committing the majority of crimes for years. I don't understand why they are against "illegals" getting low pay jobs. Everyone out here agrees that they work their asses off and should be paid what their work is worth, which is much more than what most are paid right now (no matter where they work or what type of service they perform). Therefore they want Mexicans to earn more money and we all agree on that point...so I do not get it!? It sounds half baked to me.

If they're looking for a location that abhors them the most, they hit the mark
I spent quite a few years lounging on the beach just below Victor Hugo's. I'd give a million dollars to be there now. Or at Thousand Steps Beach, nearby

A few dozen anti-immigration demonstrators and a slightly larger group of counter-protesters have gathered in Laguna Beach.
A heavy police presence is keeping the two sides separated...
