Steve King defends Arpaio: 'I don't agree that profiling is wrong'

Source: The Hill

BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 08/28/17 09:56 PM EDT

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) on Monday defended former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona, who was convicted of criminal contempt of court for refusing to halt his immigration patrols but pardoned by President Trump.

“I don’t agree that profiling is wrong,” King told CNN’s Chris Cuomo. “In fact, if you would take profiling away from the tools of law enforcement, you couldn’t describe a criminal in any way whatsoever.”

King’s comments come hours after Trump defended his decision last week to pardon Arpaio. The former sheriff was convicted last month of contempt for disobeying a court order that he halt his office's racial profiling policies.

“There’s a difference between racial profiling and broader profiling with all of the descriptions that are there,” King argued in the Monday night interview.

Congressman King says the Constitution should be ignored. He lacks the wisdom our founding fathers had.

You either respect the law or you don't. Especially a "law enforcement" officer should respect the law.

But I agree in one aspect of it: profiling helps law enforcement and detectives zero in on serial killers and big criminals like that. There is a "type" that commits certain kinds of murders. They, with psychiatrists & other mental health professionals, have a good idea of the type of person who commits certain kinds of serial killings. This helps them zero in on persons of interest. It's a fascinating topic.

The movie "Citizen X," about a long-term serial killer in Russia, is excellent, and contains info on the profiling aspect. They thought they knew what they were looking for, because of a psychiatrist who had analyzed the killings, the victims, the sites. But they weren't sure. Russia had almost no experience dealing with serial killings. It took them years to catch the killer. It turned out that he fit the profile to a large extent.

But that's different from stopping random people just because of their race in the hopes of finding drugs or an illegal immigrant.

This little ass hole never ceases to amaze his constituents and the country with just how grossly racist and sad a little prick he really is....yet they elect him and re-elect him over and over again. Fooking idiots.

I know Peter King has gotten some good press about his lil feud with Ted Crudz, but on the whole Rep Peter King in NY is just as big an A-hole as Rep Steven King in Iowa.
