Trump responds to Ingraham: We're trying to shrink government

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the understaffing of the executive branch under his administration has been a conscious choice as part of a larger effort to shrink government, pushing back against conservative commentator Laura Ingraham, who told Fox News that the federal government is short on manpower.
In an interview Tuesday morning on Fox & Friends, Ingraham noted that FEMA Administrator Brock Long, the man overseeing the federal response to the storm damage and flooding in Texas from Hurricane Harvey, has only been in his position since June. The storm, recovery from which Long said will take years, along with a full plate of other domestic and international issues to deal with, are proof that the Trump administration needs to be fully staffed, Ingraham said.
We can all look at these horrific pictures, and we can conclude that a federal government does need staff. We see it acutely in need of staff in a situation like this, Ingraham said. This isn't the only crisis we're facing. This is massive, humanitarian. We're also facing a huge crisis with North Korea. We're facing a crisis of confidence across the country where people wonder even with President Trump in, he said he was going to drain the swamp, can we have a government that works for the people and not just have a people enslaved to the government.
Trump, known to be a regular Fox & Friends viewer, responded to Ingraham on Twitter, writing that we are not looking to fill all of those positions. Don't need many of them - reduce size of government.

(21,635 posts)It's always just code for cutting everything and anything - including emergency contingencies - that doesn't benefit either their bankrollers or the war profiteers.
They're about as fascist as you can get, and still be within democratic parameters.

(22,124 posts)Again, tRUMP has proved he isn't fit to be commander-in-chief. Just now, in response to Ingraham's remarks on under-staffing on Faux News, tRUMP had to respond that the under-staffing issues were deliberate, due to tRUMP's 'don't need many of them - reduce size of government' policies? Really??? I doubt anyone with any competence will believe tRUMP's lame ass excuse, especially at this late point in time.
Also, he attempted to blame Congress for some of his failures. Earlier this year, tRUMP has griped at Congress for failing to approve his nominees (to which Congress had responded, what nominees? (they were no nominees awaiting approval)).
This is clear and undeniable evidence that tRUMP is failing miserably in the performance of his duties as commander-in-chief. Because of his ongoing failure to promptly fill or merge federal job slots (the responsibilities handled by the unfilled federal jobs hasn't gone away), more and more evidence of his incompetence will start to show.
Unfortunately, his failure to fulfill many of the overseas ambassador slots and state department slots (Rex T.) will come back to negatively impact US relations in so many ways, we can't begin to imagine all of the consequences. So much for tRUMP's world view, eh?
So far, tRUMP's coming up w/ fake or made up excuses on his performance (what performance?), attempted to place blame on others for his failures (blaming everybody for his failures in Congress to pass anything), lied repeatedly to the American public (he calls it 'fake news' when he's caught with his hand in the cookie jar, e.g., lying to us), and attempted to equate his pardon w/ those of other presidents (failing miserably by comparing the actions of a convicted racist sheriff with the pardons of other prior presidents, e.g., Manning, etc.).
He's lost Congress now in any support for anything. He's lost the majority of the American public. He's losing most of his legal challenges. Mueller is coming. As to campaigning for a 2nd term, what a joke...another way to scam the American public...he's raking in tons of dough, while claiming it's for a second term run at the presidency. It's fraud, plain and simple.
He's pocketing the money for solely his own benefit/income. Eventually he's going to run out of places to run to/hide, when he wants to escape the continual and ongoing criticism of his administration and policies. All fake!
Congress, controlled by Republicans, has been complacent in allowing tRUMP the leeway they've given him, for they finally got control of both houses of Congress, and clearly favoring party over country, will attempt to enact a revamped tax code, and other policies, which will spell disaster for this country (look at the attempt by republicans in the state of KS's revamped tax codes, an utter disaster).
People understand and realize what the Republican party really stands for (billionaires and millionaires, and businesses, who don't want to pay any taxes at all), and will attempt to cling to control by using 'red button' issues to divert and obscure the truth. NO MORE.
Candidates desired by the majority of democrats and independents will emerge, in 2018 and 2020, who will be fully capable of dealing w/ the idiotic campaign and candidate that tRUMP will be. After all, anyone who has spent more time eating two scoops of ice cream and chocolate cake, playing golf, and vacationing (while NOT doing his job), is going to have a difficult time defending his record.
