Houston Officer Drowns

Source: The HILL

A Houston police officer drowned on his way to work Sunday, The Houston Chronicle reported on Tuesday.

"He was trying different routes, and took a wrong turn," one official told the newspaper.

The officer's family has yet to be officially notified, as crews work to recover his body.

The officer, a 30-year veteran of the city's police department, unsuccessfully tried to exit his vehicle after becoming caught in the floodwaters.

I'll bet he was so tired he wasn't able to think straight any more. Poor man.

My sympathies to his family and friends and fellow first responders.

should make a comeback or maybe provide an additional way to put a handle in a slot to manually lower them. That is if people are dying because they can't break the glass. And maybe cars should come equipped with a spool of rope or some other built in features that could save lives.
