About 200 protesters greet Trump in Austin

AUSTIN Chanting and waving signs with slogans such as Rebuild Houston, Not a Wall and No Human is Illegal, about 200 people lined Koenig Lane outside the Department of Public Safetys operations center to protest President Donald Trumps visit to flood-ravaged Texas on Tuesday.
The liberal group Indivisible organized the protest and cited Trumps potential repeal of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program which protects undocumented immigrants who entered the United States during childhood from deportation and several other issues as reasons for the demonstration
Trumps anti-DACA rhetoric, the pardon of Joe Arpaio, the transgender military ban, this is why were out here, said Austin musician Matt Oliver, 38. Trump is only here for an expensive photo op.

Arielle Arizpe brought her two sons, 4 and 6, to the protest. Even though the Hurricane caused so much damage and people are suffering in Houston, Trump is not taking a break from politics, and I thought it was important come out, Arizpe said.

(14,726 posts)I came into town with my sign ready to protest. Thought he as going to the Delco center, not there was so went downtown to the convention center. No activity, I think this was kept as secret as possible so many who wanted to protest. I couldn't find the creep.

(22,651 posts)although everyone is exhausted, shelters are full & very well managed!..the Mayor & Police chief are awesome-live on TV2, 24/7 these past few days. 440 high water locations remain. 80% of flooded homes have NO insurance at all.
extreme rain storms still very active just to Houston's east
