Biden: Trump undermining America's standing in the world

Former Vice President Joe Biden (D) argued Thursday that President Trumps actions during his tenure have undermined the United States in the eyes of the world.
In an op-ed for The New York Times, Biden slammed Trumps recent decision to phase out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), his response to the Charlottesville, Va., attack and his administrations view of global affairs as a zero-sum competition.
Mr. Trumps shameful defense of the white nationalists and neo-Nazis who unleashed hatred and violence in Charlottesville, Va., further abnegated Americas moral leadership, Biden wrote. Not since the Jim Crow era has an American president so misunderstood and misrepresented our values.
Biden, whose latest book is expected to be released later this fall, called on the United States to reclaim its moral standing in the world. You cannot define Americans by what they look like, where they come from, whom they love or how they worship. Only our democratic values define us, the former vice president wrote.

(2,749 posts)How can the many Americans who aren't loyal to either party look at the last year or so, and ever think of voting Republican?
Which party nominated Trump as head of their party? Which party wants to be so cruel to immigrants of all types, but especially the Dreamers? Which party could take health care away from millions of people who need it? Which party is about to give huge tax cuts tthe wealthy, while giving crumbs to the rest of us, and calling it tax "reform"? Which party has as some of its members, Nazi-wanna-bes, racists white supremacists, and KKKers? Which party is ignoring climate change to the point of not even wanting to discuss that it might be related to all the recent natural disasters? Which party won't even entertain the thought of doing something about our lack of sensible gun laws? Which party has values closer to those of Jesus, while the other party talks Jesus all the time, but really only uses Jesus to impose thier will on others? Which parties candidates can hardly wait to get us into the next war?
I could go on and on, but don't people see that these things have an impact on thier lives and on their childrens lives?

(6,994 posts)there are those racists that still exist in greater numbers than we thought and that is very sad.
But you know I taught my children and my grand children about equal rights and know that they practice it.
But obviously there are those parents that over the generations have taught them hate and its a unfortunate reality.
