Lawsuit filed to stop mining near Yellowstone in Montana

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Opponents of mining near Yellowstone National Park filed a lawsuit Friday challenging a decision by Montana environmental regulators to allow a Canadian company to explore for precious metals just north of the park.

The Park County Environmental Council and Greater Yellowstone Coalition sued the Montana Department of Environmental Quality and Lucky Minerals, Inc. in state district court in Montana's Park County.

Lucky Minerals was given approval to drill on private land in the Absaroka Mountains to assess its prospects for mining of copper, gold, silver and molybdenum deposits.

Plaintiff's attorney Jenny Harbine says the state's analysis of the company's proposal should have considered the potential for a large-scale mine to be built at the exploration site.

same thing they tried with Obama Admin about the first week of his first term. And those 'free mines' near Yellowstone were stopped immediately, they were not allowed by 'regulators' " to explore"

Time for the koch brothers' shadow government--operating through one of their tentacles, the Fuckderalist Society, to continue packing the Federal Judiciary--indeed, courts throughout the U.S.--with more radical right crackpot judges to stop this environmental inconvenience.

See: Scott Walker--Foxconn--Wisconsin State Supreme Court. Judges who are nothing more than RW lackeys who will nix any environmental protections standing in the way of the polluters and extractive industries.

Their plot is to negate environmental legislation throughout the U.S.

Hope this project near Yellowstone can be stopped, though.

areas, now they have to import foreign companies to do it too? How does his help America's interests? Whatever they dig out of the ground will enrich the Canadian company, the money will go to their country, their workers, and their investors. They have no stake in preserving the land or water, the wildlife, or the forests, so how much did they bribe the politicians in Montana to get approved?
