Fox Sports anchor blasts Trump for attacking NFL players

Source: The Hill

Fox Sports host Terry Bradshaw blasted President Trump on Sunday after Trump declared that NFL players who refuse to stand for the national anthem should be fired or suspended.

“If our country stands for anything, folks, it’s freedom. People died for that freedom. I’m not sure if our president understands those rights. That every American has the right to speak out also to protest," the longtime Fox commentator said.

"The president of the United States came out attacking NFL players for them exercising their freedom of speech. While I don’t condone the protesting our national anthem, this is America," he added.

Bradshaw, a hall of fame quarterback, said the president should turn his attention to more pressing issues affecting the nation rather than bullying players in the league who decide to kneel as the anthem plays before the start of each game.

i am at a loss at all the ridicules bullshit about burning jerseys, and boycotting NFL games, and I read some in my town were actually going to turn in their PSLs, etc, and I ask, ok so you think these guys are disrespecting the flag, but aren't you disrespecting the constitution? The 1st amendment of our constitution says basically we can kneel at anytime for anything as long as your kneeling is not physically hurting anyone. I find it very interesting that many of the people screaming about the kneeling don't think about the constitution, except the 2nd amendment.... hey the 1st comes before the 2nd... freedom of the press, freedom of religion, and freedom to protest....

Ratings were high this week, fantasy football is still a hot pastime, RedZone viewership is up.

And those "boycotters" will just be giving up their seats to someone else on the waiting list for 28 of the 32 teams.

Just idiots, is all.

while promoting white supremacy, fascism and a police/military state. He has already made America a laughingstock and the world fearful of his mental instability. This unfit, unqualified and mentally deranged PINO must be stopped. Nfl players are not protesting the anthem they are protesting not living up to what it is supposed to stand for. Liberty, Justice, Tolerance, equality and peace. Trump has never done anything for anybody his entire life.

. . . that what comes out of this is a debate about the extent to which employers can punish workers for exercising their free speech rights on national matters of concern and even on matters going on involving their workplace. At my own employer, I know that if I publically criticize a policy choice by my college president (as distinguished from my discussing proprietary, internal deliberations), I am going to incur nearly instant retaliation.

The fact that the public is mostly disgusted with calls by Trump to have the owners fire players for their political speech should draw attention to practices by owners of other businesses that retaliate for political speech and start to move us toward ending these practices.

The 'freedom of speech' mean, as we all know, that no laws shall infringe upon our right to speak our mind. Nowhere in the first amendment does it say that we're protected from the consequences of speaking out against our employer.

Personally I'd prefer a few restrictions on political speech (such as using out-and-out lies), as well as protections when we speak out against our employer, but that's not what we currently have in the First Amendment and I don't expect it to be changed anytime soon.

That's not what's happening. Man, I can't tell you how many times I've heard or read this or that they are protesting the flag, the troops, the country, Trump, or a litany or other thins. I bet less than 1 in 3 whole truly know what is being protested at this point.
