ICE arrests hundreds of immigrants in 'sanctuary cities'

Source: Los Angeles Times

Immigration officials on Thursday announced hundreds of arrests in an operation targeting communities where police and elected officials have refused to fully cooperate on enforcing federal immigration laws.

ICE said it arrested 167 people in and around Los Angeles, a region in which several cities and counties have been tagged by justice officials as being so-called sanctuaries — a loosely defined term used to describe local governments that restrict police from assisting immigration authorities identify and detain people suspected of being in the country illegally.

Arrests were also made in San Francisco and San Jose. Overall, ICE said it arrested nearly 500 people across the country over the last few days.

The surge of arrests was similar in size to several past operations ICE has carried out in recent years. But the focus on places deemed by justice officials to be soft on illegal immigration served to ratchet up an already tense standoff.

racist.

He wants us to kill each other.

That was the plan when he was to lose the election too, he was gonna say it was rigged, that way he can watch us kill each other and not have any responsibility, but the KGB stole it and it fucked him up.

What are we gonna do now?

Taking off his turban, they said, is this man a Jew?
'Cause they're working for the clampdown
They put up a poster saying we earn more than you!
When we're working for the clampdown
We will teach our twisted speech
To the young believers
We will train our blue-eyed men
To be young believers

The judge said five to ten-but I say double that again
I'm not working for the clampdown
No man born with a living soul
Can be working for the clampdown
Kick over the wall 'cause government's to fall
How can you refuse it?
Let fury have the hour, anger can be power
D'you know that you can use it?

The voices in your head are calling
Stop wasting your time, there's nothing coming
Only a fool would think someone could save you
The men at the factory are old and cunning
You don't owe nothing, so boy get runnin'
It's the best years of your life they want to steal

You grow up and you calm down
You're working for the clampdown
You start wearing the blue and brown
You're working for the clampdown
So you got someone to boss around
It makes you feel big now
You drift until you brutalize
Make your first kill now

In these days of evil Presidentes
Working for the clampdown
But lately one or two has fully paid their due
For working for the clampdown
Ha! Gitalong! Gitalong! (working for the clampdown)
Ha! Gitalong! Gitalong! (working for the clampdown)

Yeah I'm working in Harrisburg
Working hard in Petersburg (working for the clampdown, working for the clampdown)
Ha! Gitalong! Gitalong!
Beggin' to be melted down

And I'll give away no secrets

This was in the S.F. Bay area. Happened at places where friends worked, too.

Funny thing is, there were two illegal Canadians where I worked. They never took a second look at them.

Reagan like tRump was a white supremacist, anyone non white is a suspect.
Some say that when Reagan lived in Iowa he was thought to have been active in the local Des Moines KKK.

who is supposed to deport them or whatever.

So this wasn't a big roundup, exactly. This is what is supposed to happen under the immigration laws, right?

I was envisioning big nets in the streets, just rounding up hundreds, looking to hook a few real illegal immigrants, or something really scary. But this was just the normal process on steroids, sounds like.

It's a question of how easy you make it for them to scoop up.

In a city that cooperates with immigration authorities, arrest records are sent to ICE, and ICE has the option to issue detainer requests, under which arrestees are held until ICE can pick them up.

Cities that don't cooperate can't "hide" the arrests, but they don't generally comply with detainer requests, and people can make bail in the same way that they normally would. At that point, if ICE wants to make arrests, they need to go to peoples' homes and arrest them. The downside of this is that in the process of arresting the people that they are looking for, ICE will also arrest anyone else they find who might be undocumented, whether they've committed any other crime or not.

One federal agency, running identifications of names for all jails in the country, on a regular basis.

The process is for the local agencies to report to ICE. If they don't, they're in violation of the law. Even sanctuary cities do that, as far as I know. What sanctuary cities won't do is investigate citizens' immigration status if they're not jailed for a crime, like a witness to an accident, or a stop for a traffic ticket. The local P.D. aren't qualified to do that, and they don't have the resources to do that. But when someone is jailed, their status can be determined, and if not a citizen, they're reported. If ICE doesn't come get them, though, a sanctuary city does not hold them. They release them, just like any other prisoner.

All told, more than 300 of those arrested had criminal convictions, according to figures released by ICE. Nearly 90 of those people had been convicted of drunk driving, the most common offense.

Assuming that ICE could to that 365 days a year, they'd need 23,400 raids to get through all 11.7 million Illegal Immigrants, and it would take 64 years.

That means America will be great again in 2081.

It will have to be Barron that finishes the job, I guess.
